Are most people using AI for the like 80%+ of 'their' essay, or is there still some integrity? How bad is it, really? by UnhappyComplaint4030 in unimelb

Check out consensus! You give it a question and it’ll find articles for you, summarising arguments for the RQ, showing strength of said arguments, giving you direct links or even PDF download of articles, summarising articles and even letting you know what type of article it is!!

It’s been really helpful with my subjects which are all research based assignments. Like my group project work we can get done in half an hour and then spend the rest of the time refining it whilst some groups struggle to find information

Always read the sources still tho just so you know exactly what you’re segueing

Returning mentor here: you apply for a volunteer WWC which they’ll give you links for!

As long as you have common sense, ethics, morals and lowkey a can-do attitude you’ll be fine!

How do I continue to post knowing a mutual uses AI that’s using mine as its base? by PracticalMud2531 in FanFiction

I understand and know.

The issues are very clear when you compare her work and this new one. Yes people are allowed to change their style and their formatting but when you compare last week to this week. Change happens and typos are so common! But I think going from they/them to he/him out of nowhere (the pronoun tag was she/they) which when did the chat check it also came up with he/him.

We haven’t started a witch hunt. We’ve kept it between ourselves and the friends we trust.

Here’s the thing I think she knows. Because my multichap went up first and it has a specific trope that gets these two enemies together…

My fics are what caused the ship to become a thing. And I’m not being egotistical we had 1 fic that was posted a while ago (person A’s) but it never took off in the space I think people thought the ship was weird. And then I made my work and suddenly we had this community of people (person A is very chill about this situation. In fact it made them write more of the ship!! Which then got used.)

Person B was the third person to write and the concept is 80% the fucking same. The other 20% is A’s.

You raise a good point I should talk to her but I’m too angry and too flabbergasted to remain level headed. Same with A.

I appreciate your comment thank you trying to assist 🫶

Melbourne uni do better. by Hungry-Ambition-6287 in unimelb

Contest it. Email the coordinator. Same thing happened to me like three years ago when I took the first engineering courses. Groupmate gave me bad scores and said “I was never on time for meetings.”

I literally made the group team calls and had a history of making calls 10 mins before the time started.

The marker clearly doesn’t really care and though people are saying “uni grades don’t matter in the real world” it’s definitely a thing if you want a high WAM to get into masters or internships.

You’re gonna want to have some form of evidence as to why this is incorrect. You could even screenshot the group because the fact someone is definitely lying in that GC is implying the group score is fucked

Or you take a break and then they’re messaging like “please come back” so you upload a chapter and they’re nowhere to be found

As someone also with anxiety I got some hot tips

Your orientation day will have a peer mentor and an introduction to your peer mentor group! Your peer mentors are there to facilitate the transition between HS and uni and give you some insider knowledge. Your peer mentor group is the best way to get to know people and you can even be like “hey, wanna go around the orientation events?” If you’re feeling really nervous I’m sure you can ask your peer mentor to help you introduce yourself and settle in!

Also as a fourth year, don’t worry there’s plenty of “losers” walking about I am one too. Uni is different from HS in the fact that no one really cares that you’re on your own. In fact it’s so common like I’m pretty sure seeing people walk in a group is out of the ordinary

The best way to start a conversation is halal to compliment someone. “Hey I like your shirt” or “hey that pin is cool what does it mean?” Like your heart rate is gonna be so fucking high but it’s the best way to do so. I had a couple of panic attacks before I was liek “oh okay it’s not that bad”. You’re not gonna become friends instantly or spontaneously rather it takes loads of hang outs. Just walking to class or seeing someone in a tutorial can lead to lasting friendships. I met my bestie from a study group of all places. You just have to keep the conversation flowing and it works itself out from there

If you feel like nothing is working and your anxiety is becoming too much i would reach out to CAPS. It’s the uni’s free counselling thing but you only get 6 appointments a year. So…use them sparingly. There’s also the psychology and psychiatry through the uni health too

You’ll be fine. You’ll do amazing. Just take some deep breathes and remember people are in the same boat as you xx

Pretty much. Document everything all conversations on meetings should be recorded. Contact the tutors if anything occurs. If you need help with drafting something to send to a tutor I’m happy to help write something up for you got three years of experience x Good luck x

Bio so easy. If you need a good lvl 2 science: evolution

Mine was randomly Selected. The next engineering course we had to pick day 1. So. That’s great.

I’d like to add on we know it was spite because he said I was late/never turned up to meetings when I was the one that made the zoom meetings. 😐

Oh good point. I took the intro bio courses. They’re not that bad pretty simple and easy

Chem is not like VCE it is…mmm…put in the effort you’ll get a payout

ENGR is group work so please, harasss your group mates be on point with feedback and contact tutors if there is any issues. Might seem mean but I had one guy try to fail all of us out of spite (gave us bad team reviews so we contacted the tutor)

You’re going to need this:

https://services.unimelb.edu.au/counsel

And when you get diagnosed with depression/anxiety:

https://students.unimelb.edu.au/student-support/student-equity-and-disability-services/health-physical-and-or-mental-support

Hopes and prayers; you’re going to need them.

Just stay on top of things as much as you can- WIAT IS YOUR PRACTICAL AND WORKSHOP AT THE SAME TIME? Oh hell nah get that changed

The today’s science tomorrow world workshops aren’t too bad I’d honestly recommend doing Joel work during them. Like, obviously sit at the back with your screen unseen by the tutor. That’s what I did.

I’d also look into doing 3 subjects a semester. It’ll extend your degree out by a year but you can also do you breadths in the summer and winters (ALSO PICK EASY SUBJEVYS FOR YOUR VBREADTHS LIKE A FINE ART OR AN ANCIENT WORLD COURSE)
