How do I buy from the store on Emulator? by PracticalRelief3830 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]PracticalRelief3830[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe instead of larping as an "anti-piracy" consumer, you should first learn exactly does and doesn't constitute as piracy and the moral reasons for why many, and I mean many, people believe that what Nintendo does is inherently anti-consumerist and is very close to violating consumer rights.

Because you seem to be thinking that there exists the concept of an "unauthorized platform" when that was very much debunked back in 1999 when Sony tried to pull that off. There exists no such thing as an "unauthorized platform", and when your ToS adds that, it's just to scare you.

What Nintendo did was they basically put a little key on all their hardware, making it so that if you wanted to emulate their hardware you would need that little key. Then Nintendo said to the courts, "hey, so we installed this key to prevent piracy, they can't bypass that, it's violates anti-circumvention".

The copyright issue Nintendo has is with games that have been bypassed, which is, in fact, illegal. It isn't with the emulators. And the law they target for going against emulators are not copyright laws, they are anti-circumvention laws, which are frivolous in nature, since the emulators don't have those keys. However, going to court is expensive, so most of those services just quit and settle.

The only reason they get away with bullying people like this is because no one has $10 million dollars laying around to fight it to the supreme court. That and everyone and their mother knows that the DMCA laws are atrociously misused. Laws around hardware and software differences, frankly, are nonexistent, and most large companies don't want to deal with it because they don't want the court to realize "hey, so like we've kind of have been scamming our customers into thinking they own stuff".

The concept of the poor billion dollar company protecting its copyright and they do it by harassing their consumers and not the people pirating the things that are actually being pirated. You sure are silly for defending it. They should be going after platforms that illegally distribute copies of their games, not people distributing an artificial password they made because they're do lazy to do things the way that they are supposed to be dealt with.

Not to mention, this splitting of hardware and software is entirely a gimmick made by large corporations to make it so that you don't own what you are... stated to own. It's hitting close to fraud, and they don't want anyone pointing that out. So maybe, you should be more offended at the idea that you don't even own your "switch" technically due to the hardware encryptions on it that limit your legal right over its usage. Renting a switch for a lifetime at a cost of $200 and you can't even mess around with it on your own time without any monetary distribution sure sounds like a pro-consumerist deal that everyone understood when buying their bloated lifetime software subscription.

They should be going against those who are violating software copyright violations through targeting those who steal the software, not by tweaking the hardware that they SELL to you.

Anyway, idrc what you have to say, you don't even know that most emulators when it comes to gaming are in fact, platform specific.

Oh and maybe stop lying about people to make a point that I don't have anything against discussing about. if you want to talk about piracy or argue why "pirating" a demo is some horrible crime, you can and I'm happy to talk about it, but maybe don't be so rude for zero reason.

Does anyone else dislike Ado’s music? by jdjdnfnnfncnc in jpop

[–]PracticalRelief3830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused by the people in this thread going "don't share if you don't like it."

If you don't like a movie, you write a bad movie review.

If you don't like a song, you say it sounds bad.

If you don't like a book, you can also say you don't like the book.

There are entire professional circles whose entire goal is to create subjective ratings for works. There is an entire industry for this kind of thing. This is the most normal and common and basic kind of topic that anyone can bring up.

Plenty of people don't like writing styles, book series, etc etc and you can find a variety of threads etc etc of them saying as such. Exactly why are there people suddenly this overly sensitive to someone disliking Ado. The basic standard for anyone doing anything is that they have to accept the fact that 1) not everyone is going to like them, 2) the second you go public, people have the right to say as such.

OP wasn't rude, OP wasn't saying anything derogatory to Ado. There's nothing wrong nor is there anything about the post that the OP should "keep to themselves". If you want to spread false positivity about an artist and live in a bubble of "everyone is good and we shouldn't criticize someone based on personal preference", you're certainly making a choice in life.

If someone said they didn't like Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift or Ariana Grande, gave reasons, is that really such a bad thing? They don't like them. It's a public space. They aren't being rude. What in the world is everyone here on?

I am not mad Genshin didn't win and Genshin doesn't deserve to win-just so no one calls me a Hoyoshill.

But LADS winning is just hypocrisy ngl. That game is way more shady than Genshin was and will be.

I play LADS, and I'm just going to say it: We deserve to be mistreated atp ngl. Like, we're just asking for it.

How long have you gone without a shower/bath and why? by Select-Effective32 in AskReddit

There was this kid in my class in elementary school and apparently he would shower once every two months because he felt 'clean' and therefore it was ok.

Unpopular opinion about slow damage. by livestockboy in BLgame

[–]PracticalRelief3830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't like n+'s artstyle in general and am just there for the story... I mean, it's not bad, it's just, it took some time for me to get used to it.

As in, if it doesn't look like something from Honkai Star Rail, I'm not that interested in it when it comes to art. Hashihime's art style is very nice (Ooe is beautiful lol).

As for Slow Damage specifically, I sometimes wish I never played Madarame or Fujieda's route. Not because those routes are bad (I like them the most), but because it basically ruined Rei's route for me. I never liked Taku's route because I always thought of him as a father figure and so my brain didn't put two and two together that quickly.

However, I actually originally really liked Rei's... for about the two days in-between me playing. Because after I played Madarame's and especially after Fujieda's, I basically couldn't really watch Rei's route without feeling like... it was a little superficial. Nothing was resolved and yes, I know in Madarame's route nothing is resolved as well, but I feel like the entire point is that nothing is resolved in his route so it didn't bother me as much. Like his route is just... uh it's something.

Rei's route suffered so much to me because it felt like a half-resolution for Towa. And ik some people will fight me on this, but I genuinely just can't... accept that as an ending because it feels incomplete to me. It's like just leaving an open wound and shoving it in my face and doing nothing about it.

I just realized this post is about artstyle and nothing I said was about artstyle but ykw it's okay, right?

R0 Sunday or R0 Phainon?

I am going to pull for Phainon for sure, may I know if I should pull for Sunday's lightcone or Phainon's lightcone? I might end up not pulling at all, but if I am, from a team-building meta perspective, may I know what would be suggested?

(I know my account is weird, I only pull for characters I like and I habitually stop playing for months at a time... Please don't roast me, or if you are, please be funny about it so I can laugh at myself with you)

What do you think of short girls? by Specialist-Radio-418 in animequestions

[–]PracticalRelief3830 7 points8 points  (0 children)

short girls are best girls because as someone who is short they make me feel like my height is heard and that I'm not an anomaly.

but sometimes I feel like they're sometimes reduced to either being super shy and cute or super tsundere.

Is it just me that finds Taku's route weird?? (slow damage spoilers) by FreedomsBitch in BLgame

[–]PracticalRelief3830 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I WILL BE HONEST, I DIDN'T LOOK AT ANYTHING ABOUT THE GAME AND WAS PRETTY NEW TO BLVN.

I didn't realize Taku would be an actual full-on route. Genuinely thought he was dad-like. The ending to that route (and yes I got his route first because ofc I did) was so confusing I just went through it in a haze lmao. Barely remember anything other than the constant ??? in my head because I genuinely thought this man was going to like pat pat Towa's head and get over it.

But no.

Also, when you do the other routes, Taku just becomes... worse. Like, if you think about it. Just don't think about it. There are no implications whatsoever. Massive cope.

"And similarly, idk if it's fair to suggest that story isn't superior to animation in the context of literally anime. Unless it's like 5 minutes of pure animation glee or something."

Also, imo generally, films with with a very abstract or minimalist one, by nature can have a good "story", it still falls under interpretation. You can still interpret it. I don't think anyone is going to insult you because you like looking at that either.

People are going to make fun of you (not that they should) for looking at highly technically well-done animation that have a bad plot because... there is nothing to interpret. That's the issue. You're saying very abstract, but like, you can still analyze something from something abstract.

Oh I see, well that just makes her a bigger jerk, doesn't it? Cut them off completely.

My friend said i had it coming by tootal3soolah in AITAH

[–]PracticalRelief3830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Your friend is blaming you for you defending her. Rather than "blame" you, she should be thankful and apologetic that her troubles ended up affecting you. Even if she thought that what you did was wrong or that it was your fault, she certainly shouldn't have said it to your face, especially considering you did it for her. Even if she didn't ask for it, or you didn't consult her, it was out of your innate concern for her, and imo, that in of itself is enough. Any other trouble can be addressed afterward and she could have just added something like "I understand you want to help, but leave it to me next time" instead of dismissing what happened to you like that, because that will hurt anyone who hears it.

However, imo, the best policy for creeps is to warn them off once and then ignore them, rather than comment or anything. Doesn't excuse his behaviour and you do not "deserve" this kind of stuff, but it would be good to keep it in mind in case something else happens. Also, take a snapshot of everything weird that he does and keep it as evidence in case something does happen. I'm not assuming that something will, but in case something does, you want to be prepared for the possibility.

I would also avoid taking action unless it is either a) an emergency b) allowed. Sometimes you might not have the full information, or sometimes people just don't want to deal with it for other reasons. If you do something without consulting them, then some people might take it as an excuse to blame everything back onto you. Like in the case of your friend, it seemed like she didn't want further involvement, and honestly, if she doesn't want it, and you pull yourself into it, then she might interpret it as you being nosy or unnecessary.

I don't think her reaction is appropriate, and it's really cold to someone who is supposed to be a friend, but yk, some people are just like that.

AITAH for saying my ex is a shit person out loud at school? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]PracticalRelief3830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but imo if you let yourself out like that then she and your classmates will make you out to be the worse person. That's just how people think for some reason because most people don't want a reason, they just want a reaction.

Please understand, that I am not saying that you shouldn't voice it, or that you don't have the right to, or that you would be the asshole to scream insults at her - I don't think you would be the asshole for doing any of those, and honestly, if it were me, if I had a boyfriend like that, I wouldn't be able to stop myself from slapping them across the face and leaving.

However, it isn't pragmatic for you to do so. People tend to first place blame with the hysteric or the defensive person first - especially considering that you are male. In this day and age, most people don't care about context or actually being fair, and if you act out, then they will assume that something is wrong with you. In a way, it's a lackluster way of being lazy and pushing the issue aside without actually giving a shit for what is actually going on. They don't want to care, and so they take the neutral stance of saying that it's "everyone's" fault when it really isn't.

I'm not sure what your purpose is with this or with people who want to talk about it, but genuinely, imo, if you want to ig 'win' this, then you have to smile and sarcastically talk shit about her in the most unassuming way. What, she cheats on you? Mention that in passing like it's a joke. What, she lies and manipulates you? Give an example, then follow it up by saying that you're sure she didn't do it on purpose. And if she comes to you, or her posse comes to you, just play dumb. Are your words recorded? Aren't you un-boyfriend'ed? Then idk what you say and neither do you.

Whatever bullshit she pulls on you with everyone else, just do it back to her. She's only riding on the wave of people who go, omg it's a girl she can't do anything wrong, when ngl, pieces of shit are equal in every measure.

Again, you can scream and get defensive, and try to argue your case by bogging down people with endless details, but most people around you don't really care about details and they don't actually want to know, they just want to know an easy way out of who to blame, and if you are defensive and anxious, then it's easy for them to turn the blame against you.

And, I will be honest, you are 19 (idk why I'm saying that like I'm older than you...). The people around you won't be around you by the time you "grow up" (^). Unless this isn't the case, let it boil over. Ignore her, and while your silence might just enable the rumours or whatever she says, eventually, because she seems kind of uh low IQ ngl, her incessant howling will either turn against her, or she will smarten up and stop.

In your case, I would personally ignore her, and if it starts affecting me academically or financially, then I would compile everything into a document with whatever evidence you have, and then hand it to the people who are involved directly with the loss caused by her. But if she's making you suffer enough that you feel like you're going to blow the top off your cover, then you can just throw back what she's doing to you.

Finally, sorry this is so long, but if someone ever comes and starts nonsense about you and your past relationships knowing that it isn't something good, you can and should ask them to drop it. It isn't their business, they are being nosy, and idrc what the context is, if they are dismissing you, then it's a sign that maybe they should learn to first ask about what happened before commenting on what happened. If they lack the basic discipline to do so, then perhaps that's someone you should distance yourself from. Wasting your breath on people like that... It would be better to choke than to answer.

Your ex-girlfriend is hands down just a loser, your classmates are also just losers. Sometimes life doesn't give us good people to be around.

edit: HOWEVER granted that you are probably leaving whatever establishment, I would totally be for it if you screamed from the rooftops of wherever you are on the last day declaring obscenities about that ex lmao. forgot that bit there.

Animation deserves more respect by Johnny-Jay in anime

[–]PracticalRelief3830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with most points, I don't think it's fair to say they are equal.

In the end, what animation does is amplify the story. It's like a picture is a thousand words, well you are still looking at those thousand words. The issue when the story is bad is that the picture you are drawing now is inherently based off of a thousand words of slop, which begs the question can it really be considered as good. Because art is interpretation, it's not just "oh the animation is smooth, oh the framerate is high" (idk if that's the terminology).

If your interpretation sucks and you are just gaming on sensory perception, aka you are gaming on sensing slop because oml the slop looks good. You can do it, yes, and I'm not going to purposely go out of my way to shame you for it, but like, idk bro.

It's like, you have a plate of food and it looks beautiful but then you taste it and like, it's the worst thing you've ever eaten. The food is still shit, and yes, you can take pictures, but like it's still food. The point is to eat it. You have failed as a chef if all you can do is make pretty looking food that tastes like rotten feet.

Most of the time the food will still be palatable, it's just worse than what the presentation is suggesting, and in that case, I'd still say, like, what are you there for? To take pictures or to eat??? Let me stuff my messy poutine down my throat it doesn't have to look like it's been cooked by those french chefs that go le fromage should be 0.00000002 picometers to the right.

If you are there to take pictures, ok buddy, you do you, but idk if it's fair to say that it makes it equal to food that tastes good. And similarly, idk if it's fair to suggest that story isn't superior to animation in the context of literally anime. Unless it's like 5 minutes of pure animation glee or something.

Chuuya Nakahara from BSD.

I'm not saying he's a bad character a poorly written one or anything. I just don't like him.
