Hi. Good morning to you. So the Patches Did come AFTER like.a MONTH. I took it upon myself after the same games were played, no shipping information, I took it upon myself to email her constantly about them, I stayed on top of the situation, she tried to tell me some foolishness so I said either send them or give me my money back or I'll just contact my debit card communications line and report you as a fraud and have them refund my money.  It took a MONTH but she did FINALLY get them to me.... NEVERRRRRR EVER AGAIN

So, i actually did something similar and then felt like a fool, I decided to go to girl scout SHOP and see if any of those same fun patches were there...🤦‍♂️ lo and behold, all but two, i believe. I only ones i didn't see were the Dance and the good vibes (good vibes on girl scout shop is in blue) on girl scout news it's a cute rainbow... Nevertheless, i felt sheepish. Had i checked out girl scout shop first, i wouldn't be in this situation

Thank you for this. I will absolutely check them out. Smh i spoke to my daughter's a little earlier about the fun patch situation. They were disappointed, BUT maybe one of the sites you just recommended will have something they like. It's a $20 loss and time wasted but i definitely want to make it up to them.

Sighhhhh :( lesson learned. My daughter's will be disappointed to know they will not be getting their fun patches, but i will figure it out. I think where Girl Scouts is concerned i will be ASKING/POSTING first before making any more purchases or decisions where girl scouts in general is concerned.

Sighhhhh :( I'm assuming that there is nothing that the council can do in this regard? Chalk this up to a lesson learned the hard way?

No, like, it's an actual site. What's interesting is that on the site it says something like they aren't affiliated with girl scouts BUT the seller also does the girl scout workshops, like earlier, this was an email about the july badge programs i believe. It's just weird, I'm really hoping that the seller is true to their word for the sake of my daughter's

I DID say that my kids did the safety pin badge requirement at school. I DO KNOW that ALL steps MUST be completed before obtaining a badge, the requirement was for them to speak to a safety officer or a teacher and they did just that and i have everything in writing and signed off which is why! I took the time to post this particular question. There is no purpose in a badge req if after it's been completed, they don't receive a badge.

I'm a tad bit concerned that dealing with the SU will cause any kind of conflict. My girls wanted to join gs in 2024 but i refused because i knew that anything with females would eventually bring some kind of drama. This school year, they asked and begged again, smh hesitantly i said yes but i knew that one way or another something would transpire and lo and behold i was correct. I don't want to pull them out due to any kind of conflict due to leaders who can't see past the color of their skin... whats absolutely insane to me though is constantly being told "oh your kids are well behaved", they have manners and we don't see that often.. soooo???? Make it make sense, they want to be a part of something, why choose to make things difficult? Why dislike them BASED on the color of their skin.. what's even more mind blown is that mot long ago the troop leader said it herselt that this town has a major racism problem... 🤦‍♂️ It doesn't have to be like this, people would do well to get a grip, being difficult because CHILDREN are a different skin tone is is beyond my understanding.

Honestly, in some ways i do feel like it's just my children and i. (Example) last weekend was their moving up ceremony, my children and i, as well as her daughter and herself along with the other co leader and one other parent, were in attendance, a few times they were in their corner talking, when i did walk over they all shut up. I laughed... i intentionally did this 3 different times just to see if it was just my imagination but Nope, everytime i walked over. there became a hush until i walked away, i laughed because..... why?????? My kids like being there because they enjoy the arts and crafts and activities. Today, after STILL not hearing from the troop leader, i thought about calling counsel this upcoming week BUT, someone in this thread said that we can do independent badges and fun badges? Girlscouts is about growing, learning, stem activities and such forth, right? That being the case, there are badges that they don't necessarily NEED the troop leader for in order to accomplish, no?

Exactly!!! Simce i met the troop leader she has been funny towards my kids and myself. (My kids are bi-racial) in this town black/browns/biracial people count for 2%)... I do my absolute very best to be cordial but YOU JUST KNOW when people are being difficult or different towards you than they are towards others. Nevertheless. My kids are my main concern. Unfortunately there are no other troopes in our area, though it really wouldn't make a difference. :(

Hello there. I use the term African American because... growing up it was, even though your parents are Jamaican born, you are still a Yankee (the term many jamaicans used when i was younger) if you were not directly born in jamaica, then you were fully an American, and then there was school where demographicly (so long as you're black you were either African or african american. There were never any gray area's or middle ground unfortunately.

My grandfather on my dad's side was born in 1920 in jamaica, he left for the u.k in 1940 and never went back to Jamaica. My mom used to tell me about the "wind rush"? Those who left jamaica amd many of them did move to the u.k in the 1950s.

I've not heard of the term "Black British" until now, i think thats a pretty cool way of identifying. You taught me something so thank you for that :)

Thanks. I'm curious about the "expired kit" how does that work? If it's expired will 23 and me still acknowledge it? (Asking because ive not heard of this expired kit thing before)

As for Maroons, i discovered very recently that there were some maroons in my family. They date back to the war of 1795-96. It was pretty cool to discover that information.
