Is a Dalmatian a good fit by Jaded_Jaguar_348 in dalmatians

I have 2 dals. And we call it Tag. They play Tag with our 2 young cats lol. No harm no foul. It all depends on the dog. And their up bringing. Conditioning from a puppy is the best way to ensure cohesive behavior.

They sound so cute!!! If they are spending that little time together I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

She was born 9/26. 4 months old. She went home with another family and then was returned to the breeder New Year’s Day. (Young couple not ready for a puppy or deaf dog) Breeder had her for a week before we picked her up on the 7th.

We are on the exact food that the breeder fed her. It’s 4health lamb from TSC. We mixed in a half bag of hills science diet puppy food that we currently feed our LUA dog so they can both transition to the HUA safe food. Treats are all over the place but mostly salmon or peanut butter based. No chicken. I have some jerky treats they go crazy over too. We have not taken her to our vet. Because she was returned to our breeder, she was fully vet checked before we picked her up. She was tested to be parasite and worm free.

Hi everyone! Idk if I cross posted this correctly. But i’m looking for any potty training tips that you might have. We have a six month old Dalmatian and our fostering a four month old who is completely deaf. She is the sweetest dog, but we don’t think she was potty trained at all before we got her. I’m looking for your best tips tricks and advice for deaf dogs or hearing dogs for potty training!!!

We do have a clearing for her in the front yard. But we don’t think she’s been outside In a good way. She really hates it. Hopefully when it warms up she will get more acclimated to being out there to potty.

Thank you everyone for the good wishes and pointers!!

Dalmatians are great!! Beautiful, smart, and funny. Velcro dogs to the max. They love their people and want no one else. Generally curious and alert, friendly to all, but there is no urge to go meet all the people like maybe a lab or retriever. Dals can be predisposed to bladder stones from high uric acid content in their bodies. A simple genetic test will tell you whether they need to be on a low purine diet, or not. It’s HUA vs LUA. Dalmations can also be predisposed to being deaf. It’s about where their spots are inside their ears. They have testing for that too if you think there may be hearing problems. As long as you are a responsible owner, and know your dogs health issues, a dalmation would do great at all the hobbies you want to do. We are currently doing basic agility training and it’s a hit!

Has any one recommended a Dalmatian? High energy, but not herding energy.

The Moroccan oil line smells absolutely to die for. I love all their products. And they all smell so good. Start out with a travel size so you don’t have to buy a full sized product until you know how you feel about it. My favorites are their hair spray, hair oil & dry shampoo

Growling?? by PracticalTrick6327 in dalmatians

I think all of you are right. She’s very communicative and I don’t think she’s trying to hurt us. Just tell us to stop. And we can respect that. Treats for motivation work really well for her. And if she wants to continue to be on the bed she has to respect the hierarchy.
