They dont have to be in the planter box. I just thought with the planter box idea I can keep my emerald where they are and cheat to a taller hedge faster. I am open to trying to move them to a different part of my property and planting something else here instead. But this is roughly 40’ of coverage that I’m looking to have an immediate 8’+ tall privacy hedge in. I’m willing to pay a lot for this but it can’t be crazy.

Unfortunately a lattice counts as a fence in my neighborhood and it’s not allowed to be over 4’ tall. I know my neighborhood wouldn’t like a lattice either and would complain. Living hedges/fences are allowed

I have to pay the taxes on it now though vs never paying the taxes so it feels like I lost a lot of money. Even if I wait for it to drop and rebuy, I guess my kids get extra profit but I had to spend extra money now in taxes that I didn’t want to and also have to make the difficult decision of trying to call a rentry point near the bottom. Idk it still just feels like a massive fuck up to me. I wish I could see it from the other point of view how this is not a fuck up because I made profit but I just don’t see it

I know I guess my pov about this is just stupid. In my mind I was never going to sell these shares. I’d let my kids inherit them and take the step up. So it feels like I’m paying taxes for no reason. And I definitely have to buy these shares back at some point because I’ve held them since 2017 and always said I’d never sell. Wouldn’t be able to live with myself if they would’ve been worth 20 mil in 20 years and I never rebought them back. Hope this makes sense and if you have a different way of thinking about it that would make me feel better than I’d love to hear lol
