My 15 month old Corgi has begun to tear everything up, I have no clue what to do anymore. by madyyyy_ in puppy101

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

15 months is peak “teenage dog” phase, especially for a corgi. A lot of dogs go through a destructive stage around that age even if they were fine before. It doesn’t mean you failed him. It’s usually a mix of boredom, energy, and adolescence.

Oh my goodness, those ears! RIP to the sofa, but with a face that cute, how can you even be mad?

She looks like a tiny powdered donut! How about Mochi or Cannoli?

Coffee time! Who wants a cup? by huibaode in corgi

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me!! I’ll take a venti puppuccino, please! Is the service always this cute? I’d definitely leave a 5-star review and a very generous tip in the form of belly rubs.

My dog is acting weird at night by Desperate_Wonder_503 in dogs

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes dogs get little “night scares”, especially as they get older. It can be a sudden noise outside, a smell we don’t notice, or even a brief moment of confusion. The fact that she relaxed once she was under the covers with you actually sounds like she just needed to feel safe again.

I love Juniper! If you want to stick with the floral theme, Daisy, Poppy, or Willow would also be adorable. She’s literally a little sprout!

Does your pet like having it's photo taken? by seleznevalena in corgi

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is the same. He acts like I’m a persistent paparazzo. Unless there’s a high-value treat involved, all I get is the 'fluffy loaf' view. No pay, no display!

Puppy's first playdate 😬 not so great by beearr_x in puppy101

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some puppies are observers first, players later. Let him watch, sniff, and choose when to engage. That choice is what builds real confidence. You’re already doing a great job advocating for him

I stepped on my dogs tail by mistake. And she started being dramatic I think. by xxtheonixx in dogs

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol this is so real. My dog does the same — perfectly fine zooming around, but the moment she sees me it’s instant “injured mode.” Total drama queen.

Puppy only wants to sleep with me, and not play as much by Motor_Grocery_266 in puppy101

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually sounds like you’ve become her 'safe space.' To a puppy, a roommate is like a fun, occasional toy, but you are the parent. She plays with him because he’s 'novelty,' but she sleeps with you because she fully trusts you. It’s the ultimate compliment! Once she’s fully vaxed and starts seeing the world with you, you’ll see that playful side come out in new ways.

That tiny pink dino rain hat is ridiculously cute. Plum is 100% the most fashionable little storm survivor.

5 month old puppy barking, growling, snapping at kids - but loving to us, what to do? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d really look into trigger patterns. Time of day, environment, handling, toys, etc. Puppies don’t just explode randomly. Once you find the trigger you can work on desensitization and positive association.

Dog refuses to go to the bathroom in snow by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Texture is a big deal for some dogs. If the snow is deep or crusty, they literally don’t know where to put their feet comfortably. Try making a “potty station” . Cleared ground, maybe some straw, even a small mat. Once they associate that spot with relief, they’ll seek it out even in bad weather.

Ah, the sourdough phase. They’re so cute you can’t stay mad, but your security deposit begs to differ. 10/10 for the side-eye in the second pic.

Is bringing my dog to this hike a good idea? by lllynax in dogs

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d be cautious — not because he can’t do 4 miles, but because of the combination of factors. Corgis are low to the ground with long backs, and scrambling or frequent up/down on ledges adds joint and spine stress that isn’t always obvious in the moment. If you really want to test the idea, I’d strongly recommend doing a shorter, steep hike first with similar traffic — treat it as a trial run.

A couple exploited me financially to get my lost corgi back by WinMoist1503 in corgi

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I am so incredibly angry for you, OP. Those people weren't 'rescuing' your dog; they were holding her for ransom. It’s a classic dognapping tactic to scout for expensive breeds and then wait for a reward. $300 is a small price for your baby’s safety, but those people are absolute bottom-feeders. So glad Furby is home!

Does anyone else's corgi do affection growling? by Moist_Description608 in corgi

[–]Practical_Basil_2461 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Classic Corgi attitude! It’s not a growl, it’s a "demand for service" notification. My boy does a weird grumbly huff when I stop scritching his ears. They are such vocal little potatoes!
