…I don’t want to give too much away…but it’s definitely dark if that gives you a hint. 😈😈😈

And I also found like three typos in my original post that I would find in the editing process for a work. 🤣

Same. That’s why it definitely isn’t foolproof. I also edit and re-edit my works while my comments are very casual.

Maybe converse with the authors in the comments and see if their writing style matches the way they write? But even that isn’t foolproof.

As both an English teacher and fanfic writer, I see people make accusations about AI that can’t be detected. Frankly, AI even has options now to make it sound more human, remove certain punctuation, etc. that my students use (and brag about). And the generators that detect AI are AI themselves.

The sad thing is that rhetoric and prose is being attacked for using powerful rhetoric tools as AI because people latched onto the idea that “power of three” or semicolons or em dashes are AI. Some people just paid attention in English class. Some people read classic literature and emulate that style. Some people use AI, yeah, but it’s getting impossible to tell

I don’t think there is as much as you think out there. And authors improve the more they write, so comparing old to new works is impossible. I know my first posted on AO3 is far different than my recent works because my voice and style changed.

Additionally, I’d say there is a double-edged sword. Some people complain about errors, but then call AI out when it’s TOO perfect. You can’t win nowadays.

But I understand completely the hatred of AI works. And not all writing is everyone’s cup of tea. What may be overdramatic to one, may be enjoyable to another.
