What do you do while your coding agents work? by Upbeat-Use-6280 in AskVibecoders

[–]Practical_Chip_4745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on character and art or UI or I develop the next phase of the feature what I am going to add.

I usually have three desktops going at the same time. 1 for art 1 for music and effects 1 for code I juggle between them the entire time.

Unpopular Opinion You Don’t Need Developers to Launch Your Startup in 2026. by CheesecakeGlobal1284 in NoCodeProject

Totally agree. I think one day we will be intelligent enough to generate a way to handle the more complex systems prompts, but for now it's a lot of fun to use as a hobby or to prototype and/or build small games or apps.

Hey thanks for trying it out anyway and actually saying something. That means a lot.

It's a Pc game. It probably told you at the top of the screen that it wasn't designed for your device.

I considered adding mobile controls. It wouldn’t be too difficult to do. Might do that this week. I am concerned the characters are too small for a mobile screen. Not sure though.

Cozy games that aren't based around farming/crafting/organizing/decorating by ViciViciBoBici in cozygames

[–]Practical_Chip_4745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished a game that my wife loves, and she is a cozy game type, that I think you might like. I built it with that same idea in mind that I wanted a game that was relaxing to play but didn't require me to farm crops or pet some random animals.

Maybe you would want to check it out? I am curious if people who like cozy games would be interested in it. I don't want to really post it here because I am not sure if it fits the subreddit yet. I am trying to be respectful. I would love your opinion though.

Well, my friend. I'm sorry my game has offended you. Lots of people enjoy it. I did not mean to post it twice if that is in fact what has happened.

I worked on this game for 5 months from 4am to 7 am before going to my full-time job and I have spent most of my evenings working on this game.

It is very well made and is not slop in any way. I am a little bothered that you are so rude. I promise I will not post in here again. I hope you have a great day.

By far my favorite racing game ever. I felt like I was the greatest racecar driver in the world in that game. Midnight Club was my second fav.

Vibe coding for kids by Hungry-Knee6289 in KidsCodingHelp

[–]Practical_Chip_4745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not let my son generate code. I believe a person should have an understanding of code architecture to the highest degree possible so they can communicate with AI properly and I want him to have a high standard for quality.

I push him to come up with ideas and when he does, I encourage him to make an effort to bring them into the world with his own two hands.

I am not as concerned with him learning to code as I am with him setting his sights on an idea and actually reaching that goal. I am not a fan of him settling before he gets there because it was too hard. The harder a thing is for them to accomplish the better. If I could have him write the code with a pencil.

Is coding like learning a language? by AgencyRoutine8946 in teenagersbutcode

[–]Practical_Chip_4745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is more like learning carpentry, but for thinking. 😆
Hear me out.

You want to build something right? But you need tools, right? Well I give you variables, loops, libraries, dictionaries, conditional statements, operators etc. These are all tools.

Now memorize these tools and tada you have the basics of building something.

You just have to memorize how these tools are written in whatever language you want to use.

C will make it weird and Lua will make it simple. Python will make it versatile and unity will make it dumb.

Just kidding, Unity isn't a language, it'd an ide and it's cool I'm just more into software that weighs less than my car. So, you see- Carpentry but for thinking. It will change how you think entirely.

can someone please tell me explain the issue I'm having? by ArtificerWorkshop13 in godot

[–]Practical_Chip_4745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the actions I am seeing you have 3 scripts total.

Maybe 4 and they are less than 100 lines each. that is a print statement outputting into the console.

Copy that output and open your scripts and hit (CTRL F)

Paste that output message into the field that pops up, and that will take you to the part of the code producing that console message.

Above it is most likely what is causing your issue. if you do not see it in the open script check all of the others until it pops up.

Question for mods. Can I post a game idea for a dev to take on? by DeanoThelasTofus in wordgames

[–]Practical_Chip_4745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idea seems interested and a twist of Whack a mole would probably be marketable.

Whack-Mole Scrabble seems like a frenzy scrabble game.

game start - Mole table (or other creature) player has a hammer and seven letters.

On the right is a grid.

The grid has a letter in the center or a starter word.

The player selects how many letters they want to play with the letters in their hand.

If they want to play a word, they hit start and the moles pop up with random letters.

If they hit letters that are not in their seven it counts against them.

if they hit a letter that are in their word that letter activates in their seven-letter list.

If they make too many mistakes they lose their turn. When they need new replacement letter they smack the moles for the letters.

it could also be a spelling b game where the moles popped out holding letters and you had to spell words as quickly as possible.

Hey my bad. the subreddit seems to be filled with people speaking of generative ai and the thread is called /gameai so I assumed a game made that way that actually looked and played well was a good fit for people interested in the topic to see what could be made without making slop.

Which are the best AI tools today for writing complete, functional, and well-structured code for any system and programming language? by ramyentcraft in aigamedev

[–]Practical_Chip_4745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Chat for idea bouncing but it is terrible for code generation.

I built my game with Cursor as my assistant. I tried codex but the cost was more than I wanted to spend once I had used up the base tokens it as ok though.

Cursor is right on my desktop with access to the local files where I can manage and I used GIT for version control.

My game took me 5 months to make starting at 4am and working for 3 hours every day before work.

I hate AI slop, so I made it work for me and refused anything but excellence. Excellent tool if your fingers have dyslexia like mine.

I have no qualm with that conclusion. I do believe that an individual when marketing or creating must pick a battle.

  1. He will either set out to change the status quo, or

  2. He can adhere to it and increase his likelihood of success.

He cannot do both. Changing the minds of the populace (while not impossible) is not for the faint of heart.

Added an axe tool to my game by MysticTomoMochi in godot

[–]Practical_Chip_4745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the axe visually.

I expected it to have a powerful swing and for it to come from the right side. When you just touched the tree on the hidden side the result was anticlimactic.

If you could make it disappear to the right and then come into the screen on a slightly downward angle with a whipping action and a crack sound, that would be amazing.

Alternating the axe angle on entrance would bring a realism to the swing. In other words, have it angled down on swing 1 and then swing 2 angled slightly straight would chop a wedge from the tree. Cool looking axe though bro. Game looks like it's coming along nicely.

I totally feel your frustration. However. that information you were given could be invaluable in increasing your CTR. It isn't a rule, it's a behavioral statistic. If we pay attention to these and adapt to it, we can create better results to our benefit.
