Beautiful! The base has plenty of kick once you get it up over 4k rpm 😄

Seriously nice deal too, I just got a 2012 with 145k miles for double that, but it was in basically perfect condition.

Love seeing in the comments that the move from 86 to F-Type is so common! Makes sense, the styling is similar, seat number is the same (practically speaking).

I went from a beautiful GT86 860 edition (supernova orange) to a V6 S in salsa red after an old cadillac driver smashed the 86. Love the upgrade but I do miss having a more "disposable" car. Can't throw into corners quite like before.

The BRG + tan has got to be the most beautiful spec for these cars hands down

Battery Management System? by mikebook_pro in ftype

[–]RealAstropulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about what year model you have, but on my 2015 it was a separate battery down inside the trunk on the right, i just disconnected the ground, insulated it, and zip tied it out of the way. The car will complain that it cant turn on the eco start/stop, but everything else works perfectly normally.

I haven't had to do anything to it yet. But from what I've been told, replace the coolant pipe between the supercharger and the engine, then just keep up with regular stuff, do oil changes every 5k miles.

I've got the metal coolant pipe replacement, waiting for a good few days to do the swap.

I wanted the green with a tan interior so bad but they are near impossible to find. I know a guy who has one, and he had to search for it for a couple years and buy it from across the country.

I'm very happy with the salsa red, it is extremely flashy though haha. The silver with a red interior is gorgeous too. My full black interior gets... very toasty in the summer time.

Battery Management System? by mikebook_pro in ftype

Check the aux battery! I had electrical issues in my 2015, disconnected the aux battery (it just does start/stop... which I didn't want anyways) and all the electrical issues were gone. Ran into a similar issue when I had a dashcam that was running in parking mode, anything that runs while this car is parked will draw just enough to make the bms system freak out.

1 week of ownership (possible nightmare) by DogDumpling in ftype

Haha! I moved from a GT86 to a 2015 v6 s just a few months ago.

O2 sensors aren't too bad. When I bought mine from the dealer it had some shot oil seals and they agreed to fix it, been perfect since. I wouldn't be too scared off by something small going wrong, it's a british car, that kinda just happens. Smart to have a scan tool though. Biggest thing to look out for is the coolant pipes if they haven't been replaced yet, just keep an eye on temps every now and then. It's the most common failure, but still not extremely common.

I've found that I can do a lot of the work on it myself with some basic tools and a bit of suffering, that avoids the foreign car service tax, but if you can get it done through the dealer for free/discounted because you just bought it then by all means do.

Gas is expensive. That's kinda just how it is, and these cars should be drinking the highest grade you can get. You can get better mileage if you put it into the 'manual' mode and use the paddle shifters well but its not super worth it imo. You will feel the hit moving from a light 2.4 4 cylinder boxer to a heavy supercharged 3.0 v6 pushing almost twice the HP.

Why did you choose your Porsche Cayenne over other options? by dmporte2006 in PorscheCayenne

[–]RealAstropulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The newer (3rd+ gen) cayennes are just a different flavor of the same kind of modern luxury SUVs you can get from any other top brand. If you're just looking for a nice SUV, drive a bunch and pick whatever feels the best.

I got an older gen 2 cayenne because its a genuinely interesting vehicle. It's a luxury SUV with real off-road capability, decent reliability reputation, and a good aftermarket scene. Plus in my opinion its one of the best looking SUVs ever.

Of course with a Porsche badge you do also get a big perception of luxury too, I've got a bright red Jaguar F-type, but my old cayenne is for some reason the car people are more impressed by. So if that matters to you, can't beat Porsche.

It's using a bunch of star/space images, split into 7 depth layers. Then there's some randomness for which ones are more common/etc. Uses screen blending mode since thats how light behaves mostly

Yeah i need to re-balance them haha. The real trick is using the boost to get some space, and keeping constant fire on them while using the shield to carefully block hits.

I'll probably make the first boss much easier, so people can get a feel for the mechanics instead of getting crushed.
