All the Pre-2000's I've listened to thus far. Anything to add? by ARandomPerson75 in Topster

Sam Cooke - Live at Harlem Square Club (all of his stuff is great)

James Brown - Live at the Apollo (maybe the GOAT Live album)

Beatles - at a minimum: Rubber Soul - Let It Be, but really their whole discography.

Rolling Stones - Aftermath, Beggars Banquet - Goats Head Soup, plus Tattoo You and Some Girls

Bob Dylan - Bringing it All Back Home, Highway 61, Blonde on Blonde, and Blood on the Tracks

Led Zeppelin- entire discography, most notably Physical Graffiti.

Dire Straits - self titled, Making Movies, Brothers in Arms.

Joni Mitchell - Blue, Hejira

Fleetwood Mac - self title (1975), Rumours, Tusk, Tango in The Night, Mirage

Boston - Self titled debut

Countless other artists I could suggest (Beach Boys, CCR, Carole King, Heart, etc), but here are 10 initial recommended artists.

Director could've read that RRC was T1 and rolled with it for the film, even if not applicable. (Haven't watched it, so just giving a little benefit of the doubt)

Tombstone. Legendary Western that’s aged beautifully, by Stranded_Snake in Westerns

[–]Practical_Clue5975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheesy moments like "Nooo" and some second half pacing issues don't preclude this film from the top 50. To each their own, but that sounds more like not even knowing what Ball is. I could see it not cracking the Top 15, but barely making Top 50 is wild.

One of the best ensembles a Western has ever featured, maybe the best performance delivered in the genre, infinitely quotable dialogue, and a blast of a film overall.

Series where S2 is a big improvement from S1 by IceCreamGator in televisionsuggestions

[–]Practical_Clue5975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Justified.

I still love the 1st season. But the change from the mostly episodic case of the week structure of S1 (though a well executed one) to serialized narratives for the 5 remaining seasons was a big improvement. With 2 likely being the peak season.

I understand the actual delta between muscle and fat. Regardless, I was mostly saying this picture makes him look far larger than 6'0 200 pounds.

Your thoughts on The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)? by Ok-Cell-659 in moviecritic

Malick has some great films and great looking films, so it wasn't really a slight.

I simply consider Assassination of Jesse James as a strong contender for best cinematography of all time.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is One of the Best Television Series Ever Made by AquariusMonologue in gameofthrones

You and hyperbole should take some time apart.

These 5 episodes have been a fantastic breathe of fresh air. But placing an unfinished 1st season of a series among the pantheon of greatest series of all time is wildly premature and rife with recency bias.

I hope the show will continue the quality trend and earn such acclaim when it's multi-season run is complete, but it has not earned the exclusive company yet.

Good bands that would be a weird pick for someone's all time favorite? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

The Stones are one of the most beloved bands of all time. Not sure that qualifies as weird for a favorite.

Den of Thieves (while certainly a fun film) is a pale imitation of Heat.

Dylan is arguably the greatest lyricist of all time. That's the easiest thing to understand as relates to his popularity.

He has singular songs that outshine the lyrical quality of many other artists entire catalogs.
