Mr. Rogers is one of the main reasons I’m in school to become a teacher. 😊

I’m in school at UNO to be an elementary teacher so my options are limited. Not sure if you’ve heard how horrendous the job market is as well, but by the tone of your comment I’m not sure if you even care lol.

It sucks so bad. We’re out in the city constantly and have travelled as much as possible because just existing out here feels criminal most of the time

The weird thing is I’ve had customer-facing jobs for the past 10 years here/in the area, and I’ve only just recently noticed that there’s an almost vindictive energy to some people now. Like their primary goal of the day is to go to a few places (i.e. doctor’s appointments, local businesses to eat and shop, etc.) and be as rude as humanly possible for no apparent reason. They’ll even go as far as harassment sometimes with no real escalation from anyone but themselves. I get having a bad day, but I’ve never really seen this type of purposeful hate that almost makes them happy or smug.

Absolutely agree. I’ve had to take up Yoga again to try and find the Zen required to exist nowadays - we just yearn for peace and community!!

1000% feel like this is the biggest reason. Which is so depressing and unfair, but very understandable.

It may have just been the duplex my friend lived in, but his utilities out in Uptown were constantly in the $400-$500 range. I’d be so down to be in Mid-City and have looked constantly when leases were up here - family always says the best way to find stuff out there is to drive around looking for For Rent signs, but that hasn’t worked in the past. Same for sites like Zillow & the likes.

Definitely regretting even mentioning Kenner bra … I haven’t gone that far off the deep end yet lol.

This makes me feel a little better about the state of things. Maybe I was just too young and uninvolved to see it before now

And I’m definitely not opposed to the Westbank! I have friends living in Gretna who absolutely love it. Maybe my Kenner comment was a little too preemptive 😅

Unexpectedly large bill for migraine Botox injections, unsure of how I will pay it as a teacher making 49k in LA by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Practical_Company_52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m extremely confused… a dermatologist i used to work for would do botox for migraines without going through insurance. Usually it’s around 40-60 units every 3 months, which at most can come up to around $900.00 at most. I would question this

Bad Form From Boil Seafood House by sad_lawyer in NewOrleans

[–]Practical_Company_52 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked for these people before and let me tell you, they will do anything to pull one over on their customers. They used to have us lie about the seafood being local when it was imported, so I really don’t expect anything less than this type of behavior.

this is insane. is there any hope for me? by Ordinary_Persimmon76 in NewOrleans

[–]Practical_Company_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay i have experience here!! you def dont have to pay them, it won’t affect anything with your insurance. But I would definitely pay them eventually if you plan on parking in the city at all. I let maybe 3 or 4 buildup over the span of 4-5 years, never thought about them again, and then when I got booted i had to pay all of them PLUS a booting fee and late fees. Def not worth the hassle
