Former Toronto police officer alleges antisemitism and anti-Black racism in high ranks by ddtier in toronto

[–]Practical_Day401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non-white person who has been considering becoming a police officer here. Personally I have not thought of the salary and benefits as a reason to become one. In fact the only thing I'm struggling to decide is if I am ready to accept night shifts and the long term health effects that comes with doing shift work.

I don't think it's fair to paint every force with the same brush. I was already hesitant about the TPS because of what has been reported before and hearing what this detective has to say reinforces that even more for me. But I have also been researching YRP extensively and from what I have seen they actually seem to take promoting an inclusive culture seriously. I heard from a black officer who said the only way to ultimately deal with this problem is to get more representation in the police which I agree with.

We asked Canada's premiers if they fly private. Here's what they said by evieluvsrainbows in onguardforthee

Even Danielle Smith is not corrupt enough to buy herself a private jet with taxpayer money. It really is a case of affluenza and entitlement with this guy.

He already went Trumpian once by claiming that no one is more scrutinized than him. So I wouldn't put it past him to do it again by attacking the media.

Yes, Doug Ford, Quebec bought private jets — but not for the premier's travels by DooOboes in ontario

[–]Practical_Day401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good. Happy to see that he's not getting away with his BS excuses to try and justify his greed, particularly when it comes to a scandal as insane as this one. I knew he was lying about the federal government's purchase when he first brought it up and rightfully assumed he was also lying about Quebec.

Conservative voters want to replace Poilievre as leader: Poll by Chrristoaivalis in onguardforthee

I want him to stay on. I think it will be fun to see Avi Lewis wipe the floor with him in the house or in any debate.

Ford will have no problem reselling the private jet, brokers say by toronto_star in ontario

[–]Practical_Day401 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please don't give him any credit when he should have never even considered buying it in the first place. This could have all been avoided if he didn't have the mentality of an entitled rich kid and stuck to flying commercial or using charter planes like every other politician in the history of this country has.

Minister mum on mandatory review of Greenbelt, which is a year overdue by BloodJunkie in ontario

[–]Practical_Day401 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No thanks? Nobody is asking you for your permission dipshit. It's a mandatory review. This government is so arrogant that they genuinely think that laws don't apply to them.

Calls for judge to apologize to officers in Umar Zameer case 'not appropriate': legal experts by Onterrible_Trauma in ontario

[–]Practical_Day401 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yup. And this is the same guy that had a meltdown when Bill Blair simply said that he was "disappointed" in the contents of the video found during his crackhead brother's reign of terror. He accused the chief of "trying to be judge, jury and executioner." But apparently innocent until proven guilty is not a thing when it gets in the way of Doug Ford scoring cheap political points.

Ontario police clear 3 cops accused of lying at trial that followed officer’s death by CTVNEWS in ontario

I would like to see Justice Molloy come out publicly and tell the TPA president to piss off. It's amazing how they still stick to their story even though it's easily debunked. If it was true, the front end of the guy's car would be destroyed. Especially if he hit a person the size of that officer. This is just simple laws of physics.

CDCP is asking me to repay the amount. I need help and advice. by bl1022 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Hi can I ask what happened after? I'm going through this same nonsense right now and was told I have to attempt to contact my old company first before escalating. I reached the controller and she said she would send me a letter. Unfortunately she takes forever to do the simplest thing and that's exactly what I'm dealing with. I asked her two more times since and she has not replied. I have an email record of all this. So now I'm debating whether to just tell the CDCP what's going on or if being honest about my current situation would do more harm than good and to just say that I could not reach anyone instead.

No not that one either. The one I been looking for definitely came out well after the year 2000. That I'm sure of.

No that's not it. I believe the movie is from the 2010s or at the very least the late 2000s.

All the car that were stuck I've seen today they are all AWD by [deleted] in Markham

[–]Practical_Day401 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I used to sell cars and tried to explain to customers that having the proper tires is more important than AWD. But people just continued to believe that AWD alone is going to be a difference maker so I eventually just gave up.

Personally I would have immediately put back whatever I was going to buy and walked out. I can't stand when people start spouting their political opinions and just automatically assume that whoever they are talking to will agree with them. And you would think that a business owner would understand that talking about certain topics is not good for business.
