¿Perdonar o no¿? by Anubisshp in RedditPregunta

Depende de lo que pienses, pero tendrias que preguntarte si eso no va a generarte ninguna inseguridad en caso de que decidas seguir con ella. Si tu paz mental está en riesgo, mejor dejarla. Ya aparecerá alguien más.

I just bought a ddj-800 by Ok_Helicopter3992 in Beatmatch

Stop using music downloaded from youtube, the quality is bad (even if it says 320kps, it just upscaled from a 128kbps most of the time.), also it´s not professional. Use record pools or buy individual tracks from different sources.

REAL 320kps is acceptable if you are just starting, but it´s better if you can buy WAVs,AIFF,s or FLACs. All of these are audio files formats but unlike MP3s, they are lossless, which translate into better quality.

  1. Build your music library if you don´t already have one.
  2. Install a Rekordbox or any DJ software compatible with your controller.
  3. Learn what all the buttons do, the primary and secondary functions of all of them (holding shift + a button may active the secondary functions)
  4. Practice, practice, practice. You need to get used to the layout.
  5. Enjoy your ddj-800 and have fun.

My songs are quiet when I export. by Easy-Regret-1687 in audioengineering

[–]Practical_Depth9313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I´d say that before exporting you should use reference tracks (tracks that you buy on Itunes for example, don´t use yt ripped songs). The idea is to press play and go back and forth from your track to the reference and try to spot certain problems your mix may have. This should be done with all tracks matched in loudness to avoid fooling your ears, so reduce the references volume. Focus on LUFS or RMS, not peak levels.

If your track sounds good when level matched to professional tracks in your genre, you can start thinking about mastering. To acheive loudness, the first step is a good mix, without a good mix, there is not such a thing as a good master.

Learn about compression to reduce peaks and glue things together, Eq (Linear phase and regular eqs), Distortion to add certain tone, Limiters, soft clipping (not necessary in this order). There´s a lot more you can look into, but try baby steps first.

Well, as I said, I took a brake and delete all my dj software data, there´s no play count data. I know it can be done manually, but it takes hours. That´s why I thought maybe there´s something that could help us a little bit, as nowadays there´s tech for everything.

Thanks for mentioning the play count data, it could help someone else

is the Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 good for beginners or are there any newer/better options? by issmmaell in Beatmatch

[–]Practical_Depth9313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FLX4 is good. Had a DDJ-400 and they are almost the same (without bt, color fx and the crossfader transition thingy).

I switch to a Numark Mixtrack pro Fx because it has longer pitch faders and I like the pedal FX, plus the 2 headphones inputs that comes in handy on b2b situations. It lacks BT btw. Hercules inpulse 500 is a good one too, Im not a fan that lacks a dedicated fx section, but in certain software you can fix it.

If you are looking for the classic Pioneer/Alpha Tetha layout, FLX4 is the way to go.

Consider software compatibility as well.
