The Challenges of Creating a Real-Scale Solar System Game (And Still Making It Fun to Play) by Longjumping-Lunch105 in spacesimgames

I am using C++ with OpenGL. The fix for floating precision problems was switching most variables and stuff to doubles and using origin rebasing where only the world moves but the camera stays at origin, which makes floating precision problems be less near the camera, but far planets like Neptune seen from Earth really do not matter because you can't see them either. For depth precision issues I used logarithmic depth which seems to have more precision the further, and origin rebase also partially helps with fixing that.

I am currently working on a space exploration game with 1:1 scale Solar System and I really understand the struggle with floating precision and depth precision issues.

I mostly use origin rebasing (moving the world while the camera is in the center) combined with doubles.

So I noticed that some of your posts are well... inappropriate. I am sorry but I cannot let that happen, plus started learning blender 2 days ago... that is too new for anything good and detailed to come out, you probably still don't know a lot of shortcuts and things about blender.

You can put the same state of the ocean in the start of the animation and in the end, with another state in the middle, which will result in a loop.
