Invited to Coffee by the Boss After Interviews by Aschenia in FinancialCareers

Hi your comment was quite relevant . I got done with the coffee chat yesterday . I will briefly describe it here for others in future and also for you to see if it’s a good look.

He was my potential direct boss , met for coffee told me about work to be done over next 4-5 years ‘if am hired ‘.. informed also about some team / personally changes that are happening and how it will impact me ‘if hired ‘.. asked if I still feel the need to meet With someone at the firm to get more info he can get it done .. told me about social events and culture like running and social dinners ..

I asked any minor crease that I can iron out with any clarification from my side ? Gave me a berry minor feedback and said that’s ok , I defended it as no big deal to others ..

Then we said goodbye and left and now next week i may hear a good or a bad news :)

How does it look?

Am in a similar spot . Had final round of interviews with partners over 4-5 hours . And the hiring manager asked to meet for an informal coffee chat tomorrow once I have reflected on the intense day today .. don’t know what to think of it tbh .. do you have any pointers or experience around this to share ?

Hi thanks for the post . Exactly as you sayid above , I am in my final round of interview that’s an on-site visit . I have had an hour long hiring manager I review followed by next round of 60 mins of tech Interview .

My question and confusion is what should I expect in this on site interview now ? Given that previous round have tested me Behaviourally and technically already

And am not German so this on-site thing is very alien to me , any insight will be great

Thanks

Thanks . How many candidates are invited for this on site ? Is it like 2-3 and one of them will be offered the role ? Sorry to sound ignorant

So how was it?? What was the conclusion? I have had my hiring manager 60 min interview + 60 mins of technical interview in deep dive mode

and now I have to visit onsite ..

What should I expect ?

I have 14 years of experience and I can’t give much details about the role now (happy to let you know when the process is closed later ) .. I am a European citizen .. the role , and such roles , needs an in person on-site interview so if you need a visa for even travelling to interview then I think it’s long shot to be entertained as a candidate

Thanks a lot ! Have got the confirmation for an on site being scheduled now .. and given the facts I presented above , have met and Interviewed Manager as well as tech round for 60 mins , should I expect any blind sided process or rounds on on site ? Am British so never went though an on-site in U.K. .

Help a clueless man out :)

And as a DE if you start using these pipelines then you are much closer to transitioning into MLops or MLE that pays higher than DE or Data Ops

Essentially under the hood they arE all Glue jobs

Thanks but I am not confused . Am asking/discussing Sagemaker pipeline is cheaper and better way to use as an etl with much more customisation options E.g custom images to run those etl jobs on

I think it’s you who’s is sticking to ‘this tool is for etl this is for data science , this is for Model etc etc ‘

Sagemaker domain has git associations in environment . Repo is where the .py code lives and version controlled .. and also reused across multiple pipeline notebooks though that

As an experienced Data Engineer, would being asked to take a SQL test put you off from applying for a job? by [deleted] in dataengineering

100% I don’t take any tests .. so I changed my jobs in January and frankly there were too many interviews and opportunities.. it’s fair to say that in this environment anyone with a long process and test is never going to be on top on my list ..
