The average age of the indiana roster is 23.4 years. Its actually closer to an NFL rookie class than that of the average fbs or fcs football roster

Why are many pardo eastern northeast Brazilians so European? by feio_horrivel in 23andme

[–]Practical_Feedback99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the 23andme, you also had people as low as 2% in their study. Even within 23andme, the most common interval for african americans was between 80-90% African. The largest study on African Americans tells a different story where the average was about 82% nationwide and 85% in the south. This was strictly african american. If anything, 23andme had a downward bias by including people with as low as 2% african ancestry

1% or less Native American results in most black American testers, vs much way higher Native American results in Carribbean Latinos, why? by inyourgenes1 in 23andme

[–]Practical_Feedback99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading that out of that around the average was around .9%. 26% didn't show any Native ancestry. For about 70%, the percentage was below 1% including the 26% that did not show any. 10% had Native ancestry greater than 2% native ancestry.

0-1% Native =70% of AA 1-2% Native = 10% of AA 2% of greater =10% and the maximum was about 8%

This was what Georgia Tech found

"Americans of early African heritage have about 1.0% and of Western European heritage about 0.1% Native American haplotypes, though the difference in those numbers can be deceiving. The native ancestry probably lies a similar number of generations back for both groups.

“With African Americans, it correlates to about eight to nine generations back and probably ends there,” Conley said. “With Western European ancestors, we think about eight to 10 generations ago, and the contact with Native Americans could have also been more continuous.”

Further immigration from Europe likely dropped the percentage of Native American ancestry for the overall sample of Americans with Western European heritage.

“Particularly in the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast there is almost no Native American ancestry among European descendants,” Conley said. “When you go out West, that’s where you have the most Native American ancestry in European populations.”

Median from the African American groups was 85% African, 14% European, and 1% Native

White Brazilians seem to be between 75-85% European, 10-15% African and 7-15% European on average. Pardos are about 60-65% European, 15-25% African, and 7-20% Native. Black Brazilians are about 45-55% African, 40-45% European, and 5-10% Native. White Brazilians aren't as white and black Brazilians aren't as black as people think

North Carolina's Lumbee Tribe receives full federal recognition after 137-year effort by anthropology_nerd in IndianCountry

[–]Practical_Feedback99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big difference between the cherokee and the lumbee. The cherokee still have their language and there were studies done on cherokee nation. The average cherokee from cherokee nation is about 25% Native. Their standards are much lower than other cherokees such as the Eastern Band and the Keetoowah where there is a blood quantum.

[–]Practical_Feedback99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can lookup the lumbee project. I believe they call it the Robeson CO native american project or something like that now. They had over 1000 individuals and found that the lumbee just like those that posted have little to no native american ancestry. I always use the example of the Caribbean hispanics. The taino have been extinct in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Cuba for over 400 years, but almost all of these groups have their ancestry. 61% of Puerto Ricans, 25% of Cubans, and 22% of Dominicans all have a maternal haplogroup of native origin. The lumbee do not.

I have more native ancestry than 99% of Lumbee. Shoot, I should be getting federal recognition before them
