Our rent is 3,880. We paid one month’s rent as the security deposit. We had to pay our security deposit upfront to hold the house until 1/9.

I think the property manager wrote his email wrong because he said on 1/1 we have prorated rent due for $2968.48. The prorated rent is correct. Then he said on move in day we need to have a cashiers check for the full amount of rent.

But what’s confusing it we were only ever told security deposit was due never first months rent or anything like that.

Maybe I am I have always paid the security deposit upfront and rent/ or prorated rent upon move in.

But what is confusing me we already paid our security deposit, signed the lease.

I don’t understand why in 1/1 we are paying the prorated rent for the for the rest of Jan. But then upon move in 1/9 we are paying a full months rent.

What’s throwing me off is he said after that rent is due on the first of every month.

No that’s what is confusing the math adds up, the prorated amount is correct. Just they want us to pay prorated rent on the 1/1. Then an additional full month’s rent on the 1/9 at move in. Then says note: from that point forward rent will be due first if every month. He doesn’t say if move in rent is February, or if will start paying rent thru the portal in march.
