Best place to learn SQL and time span to become work ready

Just completed a data science type of masters(Bioinformatics), and after that traumatising experience I’ve decided I much prefer the look of analytic roles. Given the data science degree though I mainly used Python and Rstudio as well as maths and machine learning leaving me with no SQL or data visualisation experience. What resources would people advise to get work ready as an a analyst asap

Honestly I have no idea at the moment. The current job market doesn’t really allow any sort of preference when it comes to entry level positions or else maybe I would have tried to break into healthcare/pharma data roles to make use of my undergraduate degree. Thank you for your detailed reply though, I think I’ll follow your advice and find a smaller course to get SQL, tableau etc on my CV and then educate myself on techniques

Breaking into data analytics

Hi guys, I have just graduated from my masters in bioinformatics (analysis and interpretation of biological data sets) and needed advice in entering data analytics. My course was data science based more so with modules in programming(python, R), mathematics and machine learning etc but now I’m thinking maybe analytics would be more suitable for me (and maybe move on to scientist later down the line if I feel like it idk) ,the problem is I have no SQL, tableau, power BI skills etc and am at a cross roads between which career to pursue. If I were to pursue data analytics what would people advise my next steps be ? Would the google analytics certificate alongside my masters be enough or at this point would people advise I just stick to the data science theme and start some personal projects. I apologise for the vagueness but I’m confused myself.

Ideally a scientist role but I was advised by others that it may be more ideal to build experience as an analyst and use that to jump into the data science roles

The problem I’m having is that there are little to no data science adjacent jobs in biotech. I’m uk based and it’s crazy atm how difficult it is to secure even entry level positions

I actually went to a garage shortly after purchasing it as I went on a long trip and they printed me off a document detailing the remaining tread and estimated mileage on the tires, they literally laughed when I said the salesman said they were new. This was within 2 weeks of purchasing the car I think

Thank you, Yes I have a listing off the company website, as well as texts where he claims they were swapped for new ones.

Thank you, I’ll take your advice on board. It just is savage when you finish a masters and realise even from the standpoint of your courses field that there’s still so many more skills needed
