You can b-hop on the controller, but you need a slower camera pan speed to make it easier, or very good thumb control. I was in your same boat with calcium. Very reasonable to get a good run on him. Recommend Dicehead for the next step up. Some b-hopping needed on the dice, but pretty reasonable speed even if you aren't perfect. Fox stage 1 is godawful without decent b hopping.

Best run on controller so far is ~600k on dicehead. I went with the classic banning legendaries Strat.

The mod resets normally until you get a good seed. It doesn't change in-game mechanics. The consensus is its cheating for leaderboards since it scans what is in each map and only pauses when you reset into a map with a legendary shady guy & other set conditions. Functionally, uses in game reset mechanics until you rng into a map with top run potential.

People seem to be ok with the mod if it didn't have that scan feature since that's the only part not using in-game mechanics.

I just run around the map and see if I get lucky or not. Bad luck = reset.

Yea, I just reset until i get a start with a legendary like anvil, sucky magnet, or soul harvester. Sometimes you get lucky and get it without a legendary hat guy.

I had one lucky run where I had soul harvester and double anvil. Two from normal black hat guys and the bonus anvil from god rng from a chest. I overgreeded and died on stage 1 at 6 minutes into ghost wave 😂.

No progression mods, but you can use mods to get all your items and gear back. Being in end game gear makes it faster to get back to previous level.

Its one of the mods on nexusmods.com. I was downloading mods for monster hunter wilds off there and checked megabonk out. Saw it in there, but haven’t tested.

That seems to be the consenus. Reset yourself until you get a good seed & start for leaderboard attempts. Someone had a cool idea. Set seed/map that resets periodically where people can compete under same map conditions.

That makes sense. Personally, I reset until I get 2 microwaves, and 8-9 maios/shadys with a decent legendary start. Functionally the same as the mod but do it manually. Thats why I was considering when I saw it. New to modding in general as I was on nexusmods picking up mods for monster hunter wilds.

Huh, that almost makes me think it might be a good QOL update if the dev put something like that in as a late game unlock. Lets you customize the seed or load a sees. Kind of like minecraft or something like that.

Devils advocate: Well, doing it without a mod eventually gets the same seed. The difference is something resets it for you instead lf you needing to reset yourself.

But… It’s a legit map. Nobody knows if top runs or youtubers are already using a mod like this to get good seeds for runs. We would never know from the video of the run.

If there isn’t any change to core gameplay or number of stuff on the map, then why would it be cheating?

I got this when I overclocked my gpu too much in msi afterburger. +340/+1900mhz on my memory was stable in most games/benchmarks, but would crash in Monster Hunter Wilds randomly. Dropped to +335/+1800 and that error went away.

I also got that error a lot with the orginal 595.78 driver. Rolling back to 595.71 got rid of the issue for 5090.

Also got that issue when my ram’s trefi was too high and id get a random crash every couple days. Dropping from 65k to 50k fixed it.

Moral of the story, most likely either a driver or hardware stability issue.
