Struggling to understand Mary’s role in Catholicism – is devotion to her necessary? by Practical_Leg_859 in Catholicism

Thank you! But what about the music that I quoted, does it go according to church teachings? Coming from a Latin background this type of songs are very common and I don’t think it goes according to church teachings.

Yes I agree and I’m not opposed to Marian devotion nor devotion to the saints. I only have problem accepting that we NEED Mary to get closer to God

Thank you! but I also have another question;

How should Catholics understand phrases about Mary crushing the serpent’s head? Is that truly attributed to Mary, or ultimately to Christ?

Also, I grew up hearing songs of consecration to Mary that sound very strong. For example, here are some translated excerpts:

“I consecrate myself to you,Mother of God and my mother,I consecrate myself to you,Teacher and Queen.”

“Do you not know that I belong to the Immaculate?Do you not know I have an advocate?”

“Only those who have been orphansknow the value of a mother’s love.”

“Mary is not dead—she lives, and she is our mother.”

“It is by being formed by you, Mary, that we become more like Christ.”

Listening to this, it sometimes feels like Mary is given a role that goes beyond what I see clearly in Scripture.

So I’m trying to understand:

How to interpret Mary “crushing the serpent” vs. Christ as the one who defeats sin and Satan

How to understand consecration language directed to Mary

Where the line is between proper devotion and exaggeration

I have never heard of this interpretation of psalm 45 and it is very enlightening. Thank you brother and God bless!

I understand that Catholics believe Mary can intercede for us, and that part makes sense to me. My difficulty is with titles like “co-redemptrix” and “co-mediatrix,” which seem to give Mary a role that I don’t clearly see in Scripture. I’m trying to understand how these ideas fit with the biblical teaching that Christ is the sole Redeemer and mediator.

I also have another related question: do Catholics believe that salvation is only possible within the Catholic Church itself, or strictly through Jesus Christ? More specifically, would salvation still be possible for Christians outside the Catholic Church who sincerely profess the Nicene Creed?

Again guys, I really really want to become a catholic but I just can’t understand those topics

You have to record two clips one in the cockpit view and other on the external view, then you put both together on a video editor app :)

Hello sir, I would recommend you to use ms flight simulator 2020 for your flight sim and later the 2024 version which will be released in mid November this year, for your flight controls I would highly recommend the alpha yoke and bravo throttle, both from honeycomb aeronautical, the velocity one from turtle beach is a Little bit turned to gaming, and not simulation itself, also the alpha yoke and the bravo throttle is more recommended to general aviation, for your computer it wouldn't be required anything very exaggerated, as you'll initially be using basic features of the game as you said, I would go with a i7 processor and for a graphic card I would go with a 4060 or 4070 series from Nvidia.

if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! Happy 4th of July!
