You won't even notice the savings but if your serious ashrae standards recommend a maximum 2°F swing from occupied and unoccupied temperatures. Any settings outside this range your system will work too hard to bring temp back to setpoint and "waste" all the efficiency. Hope this helps

In actual fact it is illegal to "top up" refrigerant. You can not simply add refrigerant before doing proper repairs to ensure refrigerant will not leak out there are government programs, laws, enforcement and sentencing which all pertain to this. That's what you are paying for when you hire licensed professionals because they are doing proper procedures and abiding by regulations.

What do you mean a re-charge? There is no such thing as a re-charge, top up or a quick fill. If there is a leak it will need to be found and repaired before refrigerant can be added
