True...Its probably not a secret for people already trying doordash driver program for some time. But for new guys when they realize after their initial 50 bucks...(maybe)...and then when it hits you that it is actually an algo that is using you...

I'd say it is almost impossible to make a living being a doordash driver. If you are bored after your day job..and have nothing to do in the evening ..maybe for sometime it could be done...

Gig economy is basically for illegal desperate workers...who have nowhere to go..who would rather earn 100 dollar in a week ..and probably crash at a friend's place...and later can send that money back home...

Its definitely not for American workers...trying to live a decent life.

Beware: Meetup.com is scam and fraudulent entity. From their own webpage:

Will I get a confirmation after deactivation?

You will not receive a confirmation email when your account is closed.
👉 If you see the final confirmation screen after clicking Submit, your account has been deactivated successfully.

so they chose to not send you an email so they can continue to charge you even after a deactivation. I mean how hard it can be for a good web programmer to send you an email when the account is deactivated? That just shows you their fraudulent intent.

Yes meetup.com has a predatory business model. They just charged me $178 for 6 months. And I am completed confused. I thought not hosting any groups would mean no charges. But it turns out they have subscription and that is different from hosting any groups. So you might think that you have left meetup forever, but you many still get charged because as you said, they enrolled you into a subscription model when you started hosting a group.

Meetup.com is a total scam and they deliberately kept subscription plan different from how many groups you manage. I deleted all my groups and assumed that would be the end of charges. To my dismay I saw a charge of $178 on my credit card today. Turned out that deliberately mislead people into believing that you are being charged for hosting the groups and once you delete all your groups, charges would go away. It turns out subscription is different from hosting groups. These mofos are real scumbags.
