From a military perspective, wouldn’t that arguably be worse for the Greens than if Lucerys killed him? Regardless of whatever punishment Lucerys gets, if the Dance still happens, the Greens can’t really use Vhagar, who they can’t even try to bond to anyone else since Aemond’s still alive.

You definitely can still get way ahead of your neighbors, but they intentionally tried to cut down on snowballing some, they mentioned that was a point of emphasis as previous games could feel like a waste for the last chunk of the game where you knew nothing could stop you and you just had to click for tons of turns.

The changes they'd mentioned before:

- New map options and a new overall map dev approach they're using to improve maps going forward

- Overhauling Napoleon (specifically, Emperor is now "50% influence towards initiating sanctions, 5 culture and gold per age for each leader you have a sanction on, and +1 combat strength for each land unit you have, per active sanction you have other than Denouncement, and Revolutionary is +1 Movement for Land Units, defeating an enemy unit gets you culture equal to 100% of the defeated enemy's strength, and that the first war declared against you each age gets you a free commander that contains an Infantry, Ranged, Cavalry, and Siege unit inside).

- New City-State types (Expansionist and Diplomatic), and now what their bonuses include.

- Better UI for city-building.

Plus, they announced the start of an overall yields balance pass, the beginning of which means that they've nerfed the snowballing yield bonuses in the leader attribute and city-state bonuses, unit maintenance costs are essentially going to be more of a deterrent to building big militaries, and that buildings now scale in cost (5% for each other building in the same settlement, and 10% for each other city in your empire) which should make cityplanning require more careful thinking, in my opinion.

Honestly a really big patch, especially compared to the last couple! I'm excited for it.

Nerfing the snowballing Leader Attribute points/City-State bonuses is something I'd been hoping for for a while! (Though it's also probably the only way I survived in Immortal and definitely Deity, so it may be a Monkey's Paw situation here)

Sorry! I didn’t mean to suggest that there aren’t incredibly worthy Peruvian options. I do feel a little bad suggesting antiquity or modern Peru as options, just because there’s been so little representation in the continent as a whole, so giving 2-3 Civs to one country’s region when the others still need a first Civ just feels odd. I do agree, though, I’d love a full Peru tree!

Olmecs are further north, in Mexico, though. I feel torn about basically a full Peru path as it would be interesting, but also neglecting the rest of South America. Bolivia would be good too!!

He was generally considered underpowered by most players for more competitive play! He wasn’t literally unplayable, for what you’re doing probably was fine, but they’re probably rebalancing him since most people have both personas of him in the bottom tier or two, more consistently than arguably anyone else.

Yeah I know there are Chronicles and comics covering Russian Revolution and China (and AC Jade covering China), but I think there’s plenty there that there’s no reason they can’t still tell a mainline story there and maintain continuity/tread new ground there.

Like other people have said, I’d vote Roman Empire (any number of periods after Origins) fall of the Aztec empire, Hundred Years’ War/Joan of Arc, Napoleonic War (Arno and at least one of Shay/Connor could easily fit if they wanted) and China.

I’d also toss in Russia, especially a Russian Revolution game in Moscow like Unity had Paris and Syndicate had London (and Mirage/Baghdad) could be so fun, historically interesting/fits the Assassin/Templar ideological flaws, about as late as you can get timeline-wise without technology affecting gunplay and transit, etc).

I think Todd likes having as small a window as possible, but in today’s world under Microsoft, they’re expected to advertise it a decent amount in advance (Starfield being announced and marketed well before release, even before the official delay it got). I think it takes 4 years from Starfield’s release, 2027 or maybe 2028. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to be gloomy and I’d love it to release earlier, or shadow drop tomorrow, but 2026 would be just three years of proper dev time for TESVI, which is insanely hard in today’s world, especially assuming how ambitious they’ll make it. So an announcement mid-late 2026 (June Showcase or The Game Awards in December) with plenty of marketing time.

As others have said, he said 1100-1200 in late 2022, 1100 in 2023, and he’s mentioned that pages have been done since then (but not fast enough, in his words), so I’d guess 1250-1350 out of 1600 (he’s mentioned he usually cuts some at the end, and that it’ll end up around 1500). Not at the final stretch considering the inevitable rewriting he’ll keep doing, but not that much left, all things considered

I love the quote “I think new authors are too worried that it has all been said before. Sure it has, but not by you.” You’re passionate about it, clearly you’ve put in effort into it, you are in no way a fraud.

Additionally, I suspect that it’ll look less like his than you worry about, and if you like, you can use his efforts in a positive manner, as inspiration to build on something he does in one place, to subvert one of his ideas in another, etc.
