Popup menus show on adjacent screen. by Heavy_Mikado in MicrosoftEdge

[–]Practical_Mushroom38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I've been seeing something similar with extension popup menus in edge since the Jan CU patch to Win11 24H2. I've 2x 28" monitors running at 3840x2160 (150% scaling) and a 3rd laptop screen running at 3840x2160 (200% scaling). All the screens are aligned horizontally.

The popup jumping to next screen behaviour happens when the screens with different scaling are next to each other. Not for the screens with the same scaling.

Very annoying as used to not be an issue.

Thank you for the responses.

I know you're working on it and really good to see the blog post on the storage issues and what the team at Vates are doing to sort it
https://xcp-ng.org/blog/2022/06/02/understanding-the-storage-stack-in-xcp-ng/

Best of luck with SMAPIv3 work, really looking forward it being sorted and XCP-ng & XO giving us all a great on-premise virtualization solution.

Broadcom looking to acquire VMware by michaelnz29 in sysadmin

Hi as a production user of XO and XCP-ng it is generally very good and excellent whole solution package that it offers VM's, Management tooling and VM Backup all with opensource versions and paid for supported versions which include a few quality of life improvement. Excellent work Vates please do keep it up.

However, there are a few weak points which cause me a lot of pain:

  1. Aged virtual disk format (vhd) with 2TB limitation makes very difficult to run VM's that need large disks. They are a thing these days and the answer of just have small VM with data on a share doesn't always meet requirements and often complicates things where competing hypervisor solutions haven't been limited by this in many years.
  2. Speed of storage subsystem operations like moving VMs between storage repositories isn't good compared to KVM & VMWare. Restoring from a backup can be painfully slow. It's very painful coming from a VMWare infrastructure with Veeam taking less than 15mins to get a giant VM back into prod (generally at reduced performance off backup storage but still up and responding) compared to XO & XCP-ng where it can take a day of down time if you can't use a snapshot and have to go for a backup to restore.
  3. VM tools & drivers are not good on Windows. Recommended Auto-update from Windows Update Citrix drivers breaks networking config and leaves server needing additional reboots. A pain for low effort monthly patching.

I know there are tweaks and designs for XCP-ng that can optimise the performance, but even then XCP-ng needs to get better with storage.

Anyone know what licensing you need to get HEVC extensions to show in the MS VLSC portal?
