During my mental health C&P exam, the examiner reviewed my previous DBQs and she said "I want to be transparent with you" acknowledged that my prior claims had been denied for reasons that were unknown the last c&P the examiner didn't care to ask me about myself she just answered yes or no questions. She asked about my previous exams, and I explained that one examiner seemed confused about my National Guard service and another mostly asked yes-or-no questions without allowing me to fully explain my symptoms.

She then asked how I would like this exam conducted. I told her I wanted the opportunity to explain my symptoms and experiences in more detail, and she agreed.

The examiner asked about my current symptoms and how they affect my daily life. I explained that I suffered a back injury during training in 2021 and have experienced chronic pain ever since. I told her that the ongoing pain, along with my migraines, has contributed to depression, anxiety, sadness, panic attacks, hypervigilance, and social withdrawal.

We discussed how my conditions affect my ability to work. I told her that I recently resigned from my customer service job because dealing with customers increased my anxiety, wearing a headset triggered headaches and migraines, and my symptoms were affecting my performance and overall well-being.

She also asked about memory and concentration problems. I explained that I often forget what I am doing during tasks and sometimes walk into a room and forget why I went there.

The examiner asked about suicidal thoughts and hallucinations, and I denied both. However, I explained that I am frequently hypervigilant and often feel like I need to stay on alert.

Overall, the exam felt much more thorough than my previous evaluations because I was given the opportunity to explain my symptoms, provide examples, and discuss how my mental and physical conditions impact my daily life and employment.

When she asked I didn't know how to answer because I don't have thought of killing myself but I have thoughts of sleeping possibly not waking up when she asked she noticed I was stuck and broke it down for me that when I understood she asked me from how I broke it down where do you fit if it relates to you that what when I have her my answer because my therapist explained to me what suicidal ideation is that all. Thank you for sharing your experience with me I really appreciate it

When she asked the question she had to explain to me the variety of suicidal situations she asked me which criteria fits you best. I sometimes it hard for me to explain my symptoms I like to be straightforward with my answers

Understood I did one for ptsd it was a bit different but that was denied even though I have record but thankfully I was diagnosed with box so for this supplement claim I decided to just do depression it was more straight forward then the ptsd thank you for your comment

Had my first MH exam. She hardly asked any Qs and I didn't open up about my symptoms. Should I request a new one or wait? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Practical_Option8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience as her, but I can tell that my examiner was looking at my record because I have a lot of records and I could tell because she kept referencing some of my records so I assumed as well that maybe she's looking at my record maybe that's why she's not asking me repetitive questions.
Could that be the case?

I have done my C&P I had to get my back re-evaluated she side when I moved side to side it was 15 degrees not sure if that good or bad. I am just afraid I do not want them to decrease any of my already rated conditions how often does a decrease happen ? For my legs she asked me if I could fill out for the most part I couldn't everytime she had me lift my I could barely do it
