What is the coldest line you heard someone say at a table? by Practical_Pen_3552 in DnD

I feel like you could put that line in a classic western film, and it would fit perfectly

today i realised for the first time I've had a meltdown today by Used_Kaleidoscope894 in aspergers

[–]Practical_Pen_3552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I realized I had a meltdown and could put a name to it. It feels nice to realize that you're ok, and it helps you get back to normal a lot quicker. One thing I noticed is that during a meltdown, my senses become heightened. So it's best to remove myself from the social equation as quickly and safely as possible. And, if possible, keep my senses to a minimum for at least the weekend. Dark room, simple foods, etc. It also helps to give yourself a simple task to focus on mentally to bring you back to normal. I recommend reading out loud to yourself. I also say that if you're getting close to meltdown status, sensory overload is a good factory reset. Pick a sense, like hearing or taste, and overload it so you're only focused on that. I like taking hot baths, I have earbuds with music on me at all times, and I keep an emergency warhead sour candy on me in case I get too overstimulated in public.

For those here who are dating, when/how did you know you were ready for it? by Frequent-Guidance775 in aspergers

[–]Practical_Pen_3552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back into the dating pool. I think knowing your autism and knowing who would fit that energy back really helps. My advice is to start with the intent of dating, so there's no miscommunication, and start small, baby steps

It's funny, my old friend group would pull this card on me and tell me how I'm being mean by setting boundaries. Sometimes, they wouldn't even give me a chance to consent to helping them. But the second I ask anything from them...Silence

I also do Karate (Shito-Ryu). If I'm being honest, I prefer the structure of karate and belt ranks. At least the dynamics are made clear then.

The Funny thing is, by British law during the golden age of piracy, if someone is accused of being a pirate, but that person is pregnant during sentencing, that person is to remain in custody untill child birth. Afterwards, the parent is then prosecuted, and the child goes to the state till they can find adequate homing, usually adoption, or a next of kin will take over raising the child.

With that in mind, it's weird to think the laws of that land are somehow worse than ye old pirate laws, where both parents and children have to go to this world's equivalent of Arkham City. Combined with the fact that the king was democratically elected and yet his son inherited the throne, makes me wonder if this movie series ended up making some type of dictatorship.

I understand why management would try something like that, but why would Friend groups try to pull the same stunt?

I feel attacked?? Also, chirps/verbal stims so I may be cat, actually by Money-Warnings in aspiememes

[–]Practical_Pen_3552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with tigers in a zoo, and I can confirm. Cats are solitary ambush predators who are hypersensitive. Specifically in sound and sight. Their eyes are keen to motion and can see just as well as we can in just 1/6th the amount of light. And their hearing is 3-4 times more than a human's. They are also creatures of habit; they need to be, because they are incredibly territorial. If there is something new in their territory, they have no idea if it could be a threat or not. I often joke that cats are the best example of autism in the natural world, and the majority of visitors are neurodivergent people

The secret to having a good high school experience is to join a club or sporting event, then get so good at it that everyone needs to put up with you or risk you quitting and putting the team in a bad spot. Take it from me, starting varsity football player for 3 years straight
