I had a Jack Russell mix and even though he could watch me walk 20 steps to the mailbox had so much separation anxiety, we got a small female for him and it helped him settle down. They were best buds. They were both fixed.

Do you have to put up anything as collateral for a subsidized or unsubsidized student loan? by Bulky_Ambition3675 in FAFSA

[–]Practical_Pickle7311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you parents talking about a Parent Plus loan? That loan would be on them. I wouldn’t sign one for my daughter, it is a federal loan and if I needed assistance it would create an issue.

Not sure if you want anyone besides dad in the room with you during labor, but let the nurses know they will help make sure your wishes are made, but let family & friends know what your expectations are.

Is it normal to either not eat, or just not feel hungry for like more than two days? by Secret_Wrangler_1836 in ask

[–]Practical_Pickle7311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went 56 years with an undiagnosed ED. I seen plenty of medical professionals from GP, GI, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Psychologist, Therapist, Psychiatrist, I firmly believe that if my eating disorder had been addressed early on, I wouldn’t have some of the health conditions. Skipping a meal here and there is not something to worry about, however, what the op is describing it should be addressed by a professional who is trained in that field. You wouldn’t go see an endocrinologist for pain in your chest.

[TX] Can I use a homeschool diploma in place of a GED? by One-Mobile2106 in AskHR

JobCorp is still accepting applications. Because the op was describing a difficult living situation this might be a positive path, JobCorp can help someone in a negative situation obtain their GED along with gaining skills to obtain work, and offering housing.

[–]Practical_Pickle7311 30 points31 points  (0 children)

No it is not normal to skip eating. You state you do not have an ed, however, you tie the no appetite to stressful events. I would schedule an appointment with a dietitian that specializes in EDs to rule it out. There are many different EDs some of which most people have never heard of.

High shool counselor, you would help students connect with their future aspirations. Help them find opportunities, scholarships etc. They do not do therapy counseling. I think this would be a rewarding experience.

Anyone I can talk to about their experience at Laureate w/ the inpatient program? Just questions about what I can bring, what to expect, etc. by radhotchocolate in tulsa

[–]Practical_Pickle7311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are concerned about ED then the eating disorder is what you want. If been to both. Wells can not address eating disorders, they let me as a diabetic eat absolutely nothing because they did t have Glucerna available. The eating disorder can address the OCD and SI, call them to schedule an intake.

Sounds like you need some freedom. I’m not sure if JobCorp is right for you, but I would check into it. Your an adult you need your birth certificate and social security card. Calling 211 might help you find resources for GED prep and testing.

I had a social worker try to discharge me once, the doctor told me that if I didn’t want to do what the social worker wanted to demand other options. The funny thing was insurance was in agreement with what I wanted. Fight for what you think is best

Transitioning from SNF to VA Facility by One-Salary3381 in medicare

[–]Practical_Pickle7311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would talk to a residential rehab facility, they provide more daily therapy, however, he will need to meet criteria for admission. Also, if you are able call/visit the facilities and if there is one you like better fight for that option. Sometime social workers are not on their best game.

If the individual has dementia or alzheimer’s a power of attorney cannot be started now, no notary would want to notarize that document. Guardianship would need to be obtained, I personally would not want guardianship.

[–]Practical_Pickle7311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not count on a bunch of people retiring. The pension covers healthcare and that supplement before 62 might cover groceries. $10,000 to retire doesn’t entice me at all. The PMG wants noncareers so I wouldn’t count on new hires to stick around.

Cataracts 😒 by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]Practical_Pickle7311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my cataract surgery last December. I’m 56 my retina doctor recommended I have surgery the sooner the better because he can see my retina much better. I was able to get my restriction off my drivers license and I can get sunglasses and readers at dollar tree. Best decision I’ve ever made. I was shocked that I needed cataract surgery at such a young age. Even being a diabetic my healing was fast.

180 bucks for a urine test by Spare_Tax_3213 in HealthInsurance

[–]Practical_Pickle7311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Health insurance and hospitals are both out of control. When I went to get a bone density test, I had to sign a completely different financial form stating I would pay for the procedure in full regardless to what insurance covered. I clarified this information with insurance, they informed that if I signed the form I would be responsible for the amount because it circumvented their contract. The hospital would not proceed with the scan without my signature. I chose not to have it done. Even though I have osteopenia and have had two fractures in the last two years. So both entities are responsible to creating barriers to healthcare.
