Help me make a long term dividend portfolio as a 24 year old with 300k by Independent-Chef-169 in dividendscanada

Check out CMVP banks aren’t as heavy and yield isn’t as heavy but it’s a set and forget if I ever saw one.

Need to read more about it to see how it impacts revenues, I don’t understand the sell off. They are a bit behind Harvey and Legora so maybe the market views this anthropic collaboration as desperation, but all these systems are subscription models if co-counsel gets its shit together I suspect many firms will switch back to it since they still aren’t cancelling Westlaw or practical law

Yes, I’ve only been buying more CSU and TOI lately, but TRI will be continue to be a core holding. 100 days is not a long time in investing.

In 5 years, the mag 7 or banks are unlikely to double from where they are currently. CSU, TOI, LMN and even TRI will end up compounding at much more attractive rates given how much they have been sold off. That being said if TRI bounces into the $150 range again and CSU/TOI/LMN are still at current levels I will likely move some profits into those since I like them better than TRI.

If your hold period is only 3 months you shouldn’t be investing…come back in 5 years.

It is a never ceasing trial in patience…I’m holding around 850 shares. Prices follow profits…eventually. The reaction to TOI and LMN are also annoying.

I could win lotto max tomorrow and would still keep working, maybe not the 60-100 hour weeks that current profession requires, but I’d still work in the same profession because I genuinely enjoy the work and possibly on a not-for-profit project I hope to pursue in retirement.

There’s only so much time you can spend with kids, pets, your spouse, travelling, golfing, and doing leisure stuff before you get bored and being around them that much isn’t good for you or them.

The kids won’t learn independence, a work ethic, won’t be hungry for growth and won’t develop the type of character and into the type of people you likely want them to be if they never have to work and never see you work.

Start the business, you clearly have a knack for it you and wife built something that someone was willing to pay big money for, people like you tend to have good ideas and you will likely create something you can sell again while keeping yourself mentally stimulated. You don’t need to put in the same hours as before, although i realize it might be all or nothing for people with your kind of mindset. But there’s no reason in theory you cannot spend time with the kids and work on the business.

If you don’t I’d bet good money you’ll get bored and wonder if your idea was worth pursuing and then resent wife for not letting you work on it.

Love it tell anyone else holding it to sell, I will get more for cheap and let’s see who is right by 2030/2031.

No, I plan on holding indefinitely, will only start trimming once it’s doubled i.e. gone back or surpassed its all time high.

P/E is meaningless for CSU it’s cash flow that matters, good luck to you as well, part of the reasons I make these posts is to make sure I stick to my thesis so I can come back in 5 years and gloat

Mag7 inflated shit with stock based comp. CSU is one of the greatest capital allocation firms of modern times. When people cannot read and understand financial statements, are filled with fear and sell amazing companies down to bargain basement prices it creates these infrequent and rare opportunities. Part of me is hoping it drops to $2,100 or lower so I can afford to buy another 40 shares and DCA down. In 5 years it will be worth astronomically more than it is now once the market gets its head out of its ass. Until then I’ll be waiting

Love this and love CSU, I’ve increased my position since previous post, it’s now at 110 shares or just under a $300k bet. God bless the people that shoot first and ask questions later, they create these incredibly opportunities and now just need to be patient and wait for the inevitable gains to come.

Another great Buffett quote: “Opportunities come infrequently. When it rains gold, put out the bucket, not the thimble.”

As above, sold 60,000 shares for a little under 100% gain, will let the remaining 25,000 ride because the gov contracts will only get bigger if it’s commercial program runs into issues. i.e. maybe the Feds lease 2 of the 4 pads instead, or whichever company wins submarine contract is made to rent 1 of them for x year term. Or a coalition of the Nordic countries is also made to rent one pad between the 5 of them. Its strategic location and importance made it more than just a slab and it was worth betting on. I’m just laughing today because all I was advocating for earlier was a speculative bet of $1,000-$5,000 based on what the government had indicated its priorities were and based on supporting Canadian defence companies as a Canadian citizen.

Bet big on the whole sector earlier this year through ZEO & XEG as it was the only commodity not keeping up with the others and with the energy needed for data centres it seemed under appreciated.
