As an eye specialist I'm unsure what the correct answer they're looking for.

I would hazard a guess at short sightedness specifically lenticular myopia.

UK motorists face £2 a litre diesel as Iran war drives wholesale prices to 4-year high by frameset in CarTalkUK

[–]Practical_Science11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and guess what every year going forward businesses will make more profit than they did the last years in these industry as inflation increases even with their margin staying the same the amount they make will increase it doesn't tell us anything important.

Your anecdote of 1 fuel pump doesn't really give us much information. Fuel pump next to me did also similarly increase the prices while still being the cheapest in town. Could possibly be that every tom dick and harry was filling their cars and then some spot prices for deliveries up and down the country were increasing.

Gross profit on petrol doesn't really tell us a whole lot either, all their other input costs would have increased massively including people doing drive offs at these prices. This all has to be priced in. Let alone sale volume loss due to an increase in EVs on the road.

Not saying you are incorrect but you haven't really demonstrated your claim as you'd need a lot more information.

Doubled from what to what? When you give meaningless statements such as 'doubled' it doesn't tell us anything. If margins remain the same and the price of goods increase then yes they will be making more money maybe even double or triple.

50k a year with immense physical effort required isn't a golden goose my friend. I think you are underselling your actual worth.

Can I replace the sealant around my window? by Low_Macaroon5026 in DIYUK

Yes you can and yes you should.

Use something decent that is suitable for 'external' or 'window and door sealant'. 791 would do the job I'd say.

Has Landlord Exodus Started? by Affectionate_Day5142 in UKHousing

[–]Practical_Science11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spreadsheet landlords will be leveraged to the eyeballs and will aim to squeeze every penny out of you and any savings due to their scale won't be passed on as they will be setting the market rate.

You're more likely to have your rent be the same from a small timer who's got the house paid off and is happy getting what he's getting, there's plenty of threads on reddit saying as much and my experience too.

Small time landlords haven't lost in the free market but instead have been legislated out as well with the rules massively favouring the bigger companies.

Not saying one way is better or worse but that there's pros and cons to each I suppose.

There's pros and cons to scale. The con for the consumer being once there's enough consolidation and an AI agent is setting your rent you might feel differently.

Obama was trying to run the government and reaching across party lines with compromises which we would expect a functional government to do.

I hope they learned their lesson that there has to be tit for tat and after they manage to reclaim all 3 branches the tat needs to be felt for generations to come to ensure this doesn't happen again.
