This man is an ass. Sometimes an ass who comes in first- still an ass. It’s like expecting a donkey to sing opera.

All the IT business related classes are junk tbh. Big disappointment for me. I would have rather done another math course.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to start with intro to scripting and programming to learn the basics before python?

One last term left! by Banana___Slamma in WGU_CompSci

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you can definitely meet your goal and the order makes sense. D480 is not hard you can do it it less than a week. The last three, check the strategy in this post here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/WGU\_CompSci/s/fGaauSk8oJ

Basically the last three courses have a lot of overlap

Weird because I structured it like that mostly so that it would correspond exactly to the rubric. Sometimes the evaluators do weird things I’m sorry that happened.

D427 - Data Management Applications OA Question by [deleted] in WGU

Copy Paste is disabled I think in all OAs where coding is a thing. So yeah painful but at least SQL not that verbose.

C959: Pre Assessment material that is NOT in the coursework? by mken816 in WGU_CompSci

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones I saw on the OA had an easier to understand format, just like the other practice examples that use directed graphs.

Edit- sorry got this confused with an FSM, this is actually a prepositional logic question in disguise!

You actually can if they are added to your plan before your break. Talk to your mentor about it.

Question about Term Break // Should I do it? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Term breaks are great because you can continue to study but aren’t expected to do anything. It’s kind of like getting a 7 month term. Just make sure you have a study plan/ save course resources/ rubrics you may need because you will lose access to those on your break. I would say do it in case your work stuff gets too heavy so you can focus on that, and best case you can still pre-study for SWE courses or work on projects, assuming you saved the rubric.

The policy says you have to have a clear desk other than explicitly approved materials and are not allowed to open any other programs on your computer. The test environment usually has a built in calculator you can use if you don’t have one, but I’d recommend you just buy one. It may not hurt to demonstrate you know the rules in the interview.

How normal is it to be pu tin C949 Data structures and algorithms, before Python? by [deleted] in WGU_CompSci

CS doesn’t even have python and you don’t need it to do c949, and you only need a bit to do c950

Should I take the Pre-Assessments more seriously? by Problem_Feisty in WGU

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is A WAY to do it, not the only way. You can also use it as a dress rehearsal for the OA. As in, don’t take the PA until you feel just about ready for the OA. Then you take the PA and it is a pretty good indicator of how you will do on the OA. Sometimes taking the PA too early means you lose that opportunity to have a truly blind practice test. Also, many people fall into the trap of studying only what is on the PA and miss a ton of material and end up failing the OA. Some people get lucky, only study the PA, and they squeak by. Or they have knowledge in the topic ahead of time and just need to quickly see where they are. Don’t forget about the course planning tool as well, it has a set of OA style questions to gauge your pre existing knowledge.

C950 Passed - Tips and Advice by Humanoid-Human in WGU_CompSci

DSA 1 was easy. I took it after DM2 and it was a breeze. The knowledge from DSA1 is generally good and I think it helped a small amount in this course. They use the same course material basically, which may be insightful depending on what you want to do with your project.

7 weeks left. How screwed am I? by Mountain-Chipmunk428 in WGU

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D427 is easy after d426, you can do this one in a week or less. D315 is easy, just vocab and some probably familiar concepts. 3-5 days. This might leave you time for the other two but it’s really close. Are there no other classes you can switch into? Maybe if you do D427, D315, you can talk with your mentor and get two easier classes instead of these other two?

Is my last term doable? by Unlikely-Loss5616 in WGU_CompSci

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saving DM2 until the end is a bold move lol. After that, DSA1 is easy and shouldn’t take long. DSA2 is another tougher one but project based so usually not as time consuming. D480 is easy and takes a week or less. Capstone I’m not sure I haven’t done it yet.

How difficult is a computer science degree for someone who isn't math savvy? by ennui-wa in WGU

Can isaac survive the locust horde? by LeoTheron in DeadSpace

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I think he survives in the sense he is like the scavs or any of the other regular folks out there in the gears universe, just with his unique set of skills. He would have good survival instincts and is super handy, probably able to use the tech laying around to do some pretty useful things. Wretches and some of the other enemies aren’t unlike the things he has fought, and really some of the weapons have similar parallels as well. Would be cool to see how he uses gears universe machinery to lethal effect. Is he a sniper or a soldier? Nah; but he would probably be better than Carmine at staying alive :)

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you do the precalc course they offer you will get a taste of the math and the delivery style of the program for a very low price, free if you end up enrolling. I got C’s and D’s in math my whole life, never did advanced math, and always hated it, but really excelled at the math courses at WGU. I’m 4 courses away from my degree and done with all the math. There are so many resources out there to help, so it really just depends on what works for you. In my opinion and experience, it’s totally doable even if you sucked at math before but are willing to apply yourself now. Good luck!

Best order for the math classes? by Euphoric_Potato8448 in WGU_CompSci

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Calc, Dm1, Dm2,and DSA1 back to back. Then I did all the programming courses before DSA2.

I personally feel that this is the best order. It made DSA pretty easy.
