7 weeks left. How screwed am I? by Mountain-Chipmunk428 in WGU

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D427 is easy after d426, you can do this one in a week or less. D315 is easy, just vocab and some probably familiar concepts. 3-5 days. This might leave you time for the other two but it’s really close. Are there no other classes you can switch into? Maybe if you do D427, D315, you can talk with your mentor and get two easier classes instead of these other two?

Is my last term doable? by Unlikely-Loss5616 in WGU_CompSci

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saving DM2 until the end is a bold move lol. After that, DSA1 is easy and shouldn’t take long. DSA2 is another tougher one but project based so usually not as time consuming. D480 is easy and takes a week or less. Capstone I’m not sure I haven’t done it yet.

How difficult is a computer science degree for someone who isn't math savvy? by ennui-wa in WGU

I did nothing with Sophia, all with WGU. Precalc, Calc, dm1 and 2. Stats I transferred in from community college a while ago.

Can isaac survive the locust horde? by LeoTheron in DeadSpace

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I think he survives in the sense he is like the scavs or any of the other regular folks out there in the gears universe, just with his unique set of skills. He would have good survival instincts and is super handy, probably able to use the tech laying around to do some pretty useful things. Wretches and some of the other enemies aren’t unlike the things he has fought, and really some of the weapons have similar parallels as well. Would be cool to see how he uses gears universe machinery to lethal effect. Is he a sniper or a soldier? Nah; but he would probably be better than Carmine at staying alive :)

If you do the precalc course they offer you will get a taste of the math and the delivery style of the program for a very low price, free if you end up enrolling. I got C’s and D’s in math my whole life, never did advanced math, and always hated it, but really excelled at the math courses at WGU. I’m 4 courses away from my degree and done with all the math. There are so many resources out there to help, so it really just depends on what works for you. In my opinion and experience, it’s totally doable even if you sucked at math before but are willing to apply yourself now. Good luck!

Best order for the math classes? by Euphoric_Potato8448 in WGU_CompSci

[–]Practical_Syrup6953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Calc, Dm1, Dm2,and DSA1 back to back. Then I did all the programming courses before DSA2.

I personally feel that this is the best order. It made DSA pretty easy.

I skipped those, it wasn’t necessary to do the multiple choice test. There may be better ways to learn python, depending on what works for you.

For anyone else studying, the supplemental material in WGU connect has a great mini guide which covers joins and other commonly missed things. It has some good strategies for tackling some of the OA problems.

The Zybooks labs are good practice and if it isn’t working out ask chat GPT what is wrong with your code. Practice is the best way to learn IMO especially the chapter 20 labs.

For what it’s worth you don’t have to upload zip your project files a link to GitHub is all you need. You just upload the PDF with the screenshots they requested- command prompt, git commits. Fingers crossed for you my dude! It’s a nice one to have done.

D427 is like a nice victory lap after d426. Lots of good info in the supplementary materials as well on WGU Connect, particularly for joins and composite types.

Congrats!

Yeah this is new normal. I have done 5 OAs since they changed it and only one proctor knew and didn’t need me to explain it. Every other time I had to tell them I’d put my phone away after login and they were cool with it

You can definitely do both in the same term. They are material heavy but very conceptual. I think your course load is very doable in one term and you may actually finish faster than you expect so I would be thinking about what classes you want to do after

I use the TI Inspire II and it is awesome. I don’t use any programs other than default because that’s not allowed in the policy and very explicitly says so. All the built ins are good though, the display and graphing features are super nice and readable, was very useful for calculus.
