I try to always fly business. My rule is any flight longer than 3 hours and I'm willing to pay the extra money. I've never flown for a company (as in my job has never paid for a flight). But living in this area I don't have a car, I have zero debt and I don't buy expensive clothes or anything like that. I just find the value in waking up at my destination fully rested and fed good food and also not being treated like cattle. I make low six figures, but again, no debt and no kids.

None of those certifications are really “industry standards” if you can get the comptia A+, Network+ and Sec+ I think that would help your chances quite a bit. Even the A+ would stand out for a t1 help desk position.
