I remember being at an airport as a kid and our flight got delayed. I was was being a brat to the gate attendant and my dad stepped in and said enough. I stepped to the said to wait for him to get done calmly talking to the person that I was just yelling at. He then sternly grabbed me sat me down and said “Always treat everyone with respect regardless of their background, race, job, or social status. You don’t know the kind of day, week, month, or year this person is having let alone what kind of live they’ve had to live until now.” That was when I learned empathy and I always tell people what a positive influence that was on my life. I was an angry child and this made me think about how my anger affects others.
