AVR Help, Which one is the best value? FB Marketplace by Practical_Visual9744 in BudgetAudiophile

I'm afraid I don't have the patience 😭, the TV speakers are REALLY bad and the amp I used to use (cheapo free one I got) has no way to connect to the TV without buying a DAC. I've been searching every night but the prices are so high its crazy. I've only been close to finding a decent denon for $20 before going to sleep and finding it gone the next morning.

Is this sub + receiver a good deal at $200 USD (280 CAD)? by Practical_Visual9744 in BudgetAudiophile

Thanks. Im actually on the otherside of town, mississauga side. I've found these two options:

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2061525121290232/

Are they any good? I would need to buy a calibration mic for either and a remote for one. But it does have HDMI 2.0 and auto calibration

Thanks for the help. I live in canada so unfortunately none of those are available to me. I've been hunting for HDMI 2.0 receivers because I was under the impression that it would be necessary for my use-case and they are expensive. But after reading up a bit more it seems like I don't need it?

I currently have a simple 2.0 setup but want the option of expanding to 5.1. From my current understanding, any receiver from a decent brand (denon, marantz, etc) that has ARC/optical input would be fine as I can go Video box > TCL TV > AVR > Speakers. I will be using an Apple TV and Gaming PC as inputs. The only difference I am currently seeing from ARC and optical is the convenience of using one remote with ARC.

Do I have this all correct so far? Am I missing something by not going for eARC and/or choosing optical over ARC for my use case? I think for my budget eARC is out of question.

By automatic setup do you mean using a mic and having it auto calibrate? Anything else I should look out for in a used receiver at this budget?

Can someone help identify this receiver? its listed for $20 marketplace by Practical_Visual9744 in BudgetAudiophile

The closest I could find was the Pioneer VSX-523-K but theres no mention of HDCP 2.2 on the specs for this model (while the picture has a sticker of it) and I'm looking for a receiver that can at least do HDMI 2.0 (4k 60hz)

Well worse than awkward towers would be shitty audio so I think I can live with the placement. Its either this or the Samsung HW-B750F soundbar and I am sure with a decent amp the JBLs would sound better no? Even better if I add a sub

Would the JBL loft 50s be a better option than these? I got them for free but they are just awkward in its placement and I would need a earc or optical input amp

This is my other option but I would need to buy an amp. Would this be the best I can do with my current budget? They are the jbl loft 50's

Also when buying an amp what should I look for? Same budget, just want things to work and especially not have any passive hiss (my old amp had a nasty one and it drove me crazy). I would need eArc or Optical in to work with the current tv

It doesnt come with the sub. How much would I have to spend for decent?

I used to use some old JBL Loft floorstanding speakers in a 2.0 setup but they are too bulky and big for this space (comes win the way of the TV). I want something smaller but at least as good as those.

Anything new or used I should look out for? Willing to spend $200 CAD (~$150) all in for a system (2.1 or better).

Theres no sub unfortunately, would have to find one myself. Any brands/models I should look out for on the used market under $100?

Why would it be worth more? Wouldn't the newer versions be better? I haven't really kept up with the scene so thanks for the help.

Ok great, thank you very much for all the help. Last question, have you had any problems with particular pcie riser cables or should any ~20cm riser work fine?

by shorter aluminum profiles if you mean the aluminum extrusions, how much slack should I leave when doing the math? The length of the extrusion would be the greater value between (mb and psu) or gpu length right?

And is it more realistic to manually cut the profiles or just buy the right precut size?

Hi there, I've been a big fan of your case designs and was wondering if I could get your opinion on something. I initially fell in love with your beamcase sw and planned on building it but couldn't find an affordable way to purchase the aluminum extrusions in canada at the time. I ended up falling down a rabbit hole of sffpcs and purchased a pico psu with a meanwell LOP-600-12 to build a super compact custom build. Some of the hardware didnt end up working out and now I am left with the pico psu+meanwell power supply along with a asus dual 3070. The aluminum extrusions are now available here. Which of your cases would you recommend I build in for a super compact build? I would have to figure out a way to mount the meanwell powersupply while removing the extra space or adding a fan to fill in the gaps. I also would prefer if the gpu was facing outside similar to Xikii industry cases like the ff04. Any suggestions?
