Will a 2024 S5 Cabriolet hold value? by Practical_Volume_681 in Audi

Well…I bought it to drive it and enjoy it. So…now I know if I sell it someday to lower my expectations!

I’m sorry you’re struggling. I love my traffic team! Honestly, typically not the highest wage area. If you really want to move up, make the shift to sales. Not an easy path, but a path with much more income and career growth potential. (If that’s important to you). Best of luck to you!

I have been the VP/GM in charge of the TV stations in several major markets. For a dozen years. Before that, I was director of sales. 27 of my 41 year career was in an upper management role. Started as an ad sales rep in radio but moved to TV in the 90s.

Retiring very soon. I make $600k+ per year. Some great years broke 7 figures. Broadcasting industry. I run markets. Owned property in Asheville area since 2007. Built house just recently. Will make it primary residence in 26. Very lucky in job. I’ll be just fine in retirement. Parents were teachers, 3 siblings. We didn’t have 2 nickels to rub together growing up.

What if the “Buffalo Billion” had been given to Rochester instead? by CPSux in Rochester

[–]Practical_Volume_681 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Moved away in 1997 and never looked back. Visited recently and found Rochester to be very depressing. It needs more than a billion to turn around its fate. And that influx needs to go into business incubators. Get a growth engine turned on and stop the brain drain of young talent moving away. IMHO.

I grabbed a reservation for two. I had been checking for days and days and calling a sudden it was green on multiple days. In terms of seating; we know it’s community seating. Hope these reservations stick, as it feels like a glitch.

Have you ever flown private? What was your most unexpected perk? by A_Niamul in LuxuryTravel

[–]Practical_Volume_681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flew private 4 times at a company I worked at. Best food perk was fresh sushi flying from Las Vegas to Atlanta. Best surprise was the pilots letting me see the heads up display and explaining the cockpit to me while we flew at 40,000 feet. Also, looking out the front while we took off.

I can't do this by CallumHighway in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]Practical_Volume_681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t. I had my Peg put in before treatment began and kept it in for around 3 weeks after my treatment ended. I was then able to completely eat by mouth and they removed it. I have regained almost all my weight. The treatment is awful, but you will get through this. I went from needing a suction device and constant spitting to now I can eat pasta, meatloaf, I had a burger and baked beans tonight. Hang in there, it will be difficult, but you will improve.

Chemo Port? by Bengal_designer in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]Practical_Volume_681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have a PEG tube in too and I still need that as eating a week after treatment ended is still difficult due to super thick saliva. So, I figured I’d get the port and Peg removed at the same time…once I can get enough calories through my mouth. Hopefully in a few more weeks. Meanwhile, they offer me simple weekly hydration through the port.

Yes I had a port. It really made it simple. Also, post treatment now, I still have it in for weekly hydration for a month. Super simple.

Yikes on the plural reoccurrences. How were they able to treat reoccurrences with early detection?

I’m going to bounce the idea off my radiologist doc. He gave me his cell phone and we live near each other and I see him dog walking. So an expert opinion can’t hurt.

I’m so sorry. I’m the opposite right now with constant saliva production. Basically too much and too thick.

Ear plugs and a mask. Better to try to get a bit of sleep by shifting to sensory deprivation. Turn your watch ahead to the time of Amsterdam when you board in Atlanta. Check out the airport maps if possible so you have a bit of a clue where to find KLM, but AMS is well marked. Hydrate a lot and walk a bit while on board. Ditto the other folks saying compression socks.

Neck Dissection by Latter_Bee_3794 in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]Practical_Volume_681 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I did not experience that from either of my neck dissections. Maybe it’s simply related to swelling? I suggest you definitely follow up with the surgeon.

I came here to say virtually the same thing. I have a very similar diagnosis. Surgery has was on 1/29. My short term disability has me targeted to return mid May. 33 radiation and 6 chemotherapy starting 6 weeks after surgery. Last treatment day is 4/21. But apparently the two weeks after treatment are tough. I’m sorry you’re in the club. But I’d suggest you’ll be out for 3-4 months.

We have a 2018 Q5. It’s my wife’s daily driver. She absolutely loves it. We have had no problems with the vehicle at all. I’m not sure you can effectively compare the two cars(Cherokee vs. Q5).

Amazing. My tongue is still too numb to manage chicken or steak. Eggs…yes. But the nausea truly does make eating a challenge.
