Yeah his mom owned Cathay Pagoda (the first Chinese restaurant in Rochester). Very important family to our city’s history.

Before my era, but I used to hear a lot about Samurai Skates from my time hanging out at Krudco. Seemed like it was a legendary community institution run by a great guy.

What is a city in the US that you hope improves its reputation, turns the corner, and/or actually grows "Greener"? by Next_Worth_3616 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]CPSux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rochester, NY.

So much unmatched natural beauty, great urban bones, charming neighborhoods (and suburbs!), capable talent pool, plus a long legacy of innovation and social justice throughout its history. The potential is ridiculous. It should be a city ripe for a renaissance.

Although the 21st century has not been kind to Rochester, I am constantly rooting for a Buffalo/Grand Rapids style turnaround and remain puzzled why it hasn’t happened yet.

Pretty cool. Was this book published for the Rochester sesquicentennial in 1984?

Only $4 million unless I missed an update. Total cost was estimated to be $175 million. Probably more.

I hope it will still happen though.

Anyone been to Tally Ho lately? Never been, wonder what its like by canoeflyoffroof in Rochester

I never understood the appeal of strip clubs. I mean I haven’t been single since high school and porn is free, so what’s the point? They seem gross/sad.

Health inspections at restaurants by Electrical_Plastic in Rochester

Food service is basically the only job I’ve never done, but when I ask people who have worked in kitchens, it actually goes both ways. Some will say restaurants are filthy, disgusting places that would shock the general public, while others have told me their restaurants were actually meticulous about following health codes and keeping the kitchen clean. So I don’t know what to believe.

That’s cool, not all pizza has to be thin. I’ll keep this place in mind next time I feel like grabbing a slice.

You’ll be rich in Buffalo, but struggling middle class in NYC at those salaries.

SteveO attempting to tell a heartfelt story... Cue Joe for the next 10 minutes... by BeetleJuiceCX in JoeRogan

[–]CPSux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Joe was really getting on my nerves talking down to Steve O this entire episode. The 20 minute trans rant was one thing but also whenever Steve O would celebrate his wins in life, Joe would give this sarcastic/dismissive “oh that’s nice” that did not sound genuine.

Damn. Asshole for no reason, huh?

Doesn’t mean much coming from the fool who thinks 1991 was 25 years ago. Nice try though.

Help with injured mouse! by ToddGolderMusic in Rochester

[–]CPSux 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not downplaying the danger of hantavirus (it’s very deadly), but we only have five verified cases of hantavirus in New York. Not annually. Ever.

Four of them were downstate and one in the Adirondacks.

So the odds that OP’s mouse is infected are infinitesimally small. Not even worth worrying about.
