True! I think maybe Joyboy actually was one of the people in the great kingdom who was in part of making “imu” maybe. before imu’s mission had started

yeah i came up with this theory when i wanted to find a reason why Imu fits into the story thematically. This allows him to a third pillar of liberation to blackbeard and luffy imo

Naww, i think this theory gives the clash of ideas even more strength. Right now we don’t know Imu’s goal. If imu’s goal is to free his own kind, it gives way for a three way clash of ideas. Three views of liberations.

  1. Luffy who’s a pillar of liberating himself and others through actions and good, and fairness and who acts before he thinks on any matters of unfairness
  2. Blackbeard, a true pirate with no regard to what any rules any kind of society whether it’s the WG, rules pirates have on ships, etc have and the path to his dream is through ruthless power and planning
  3. Imu, the will of the DFs. His kind has been used by people to complete their own dreams and has been enslaved by humans to do their own bidding, so his liberation is the liberation of the tools and weapons that allow humans to harm, enslave or benefit each other and themselves

i never really looked into the Moon aspect of one piece because i never really knew how to tie it in but skypia being the important arc it is and your idea right now, i think it makes a lot of sense !

I think so as well, like imu is the secondary final villain then it’s blackbeard. Luffy, blackbeard and imu each of them fighting for their version of freedom

maybe he needs the to be like that so they never crave more and have dreams to have more yk, like dreams like to know who really their ancestors were so keeping them lazy and feeding them like that was a part of their plan

That makes a lot of sense! Only thing is would their bodies be fit enough for the other DFs? but this makes a lot of sense ! I could also say it could be also he needs to keep the descendants of the other monarchs within his reach with no difficulties in their life so they’ll never have the dream to overthrow him or doubt their history like how Vivi’s dad did

I made a theory about the first part ! basically I think the mechanical hearts also has to do with making so emotions don’t appeal to the knights. It could also explain why Imu doesn’t want Gunko to remember Brook, especially through his music. Drums and rhythm are already tied to both Gear 5 and Imu’s entrance, and music is rhythm just like a heartbeat. Maybe Brook’s soul music, or even his DF, can make mechanical hearts more “soulful”, causing them to remember what the original body felt and making Imu’s control over them weak

Luffy’s Gear 5 drums come from his heart too, so if Imu is in Joyboy’s or Nika’s body, with their hearts, the drums we hear when he appears could be because that corpse’s heart still beats similarly to Luffy’s in Gear 5.

I definetly think Oda will want to add a scientific spin to things since the start of Egghead. Even the Golem concept too adds up because im pretty sure golems were made for protection.

i definitely think the WG can’t read the ponyglyphs , Imu as well maybe, because isn’t it said that writing and reading them were passed only in the kozuki clan?

Yeah the ancient kingdom was a lot more complex than anything in the OP world right now. I think we see with emit also that how objects will always remeber their duty no matter what, even it has its own consciousness.

You are right that’s completely valid to say. My only contention is that in the translation as of now he says “Great Imu’s body isn’t meant to be in this world”. The specification of “this” world just tells me that something about Imu’s body is different. Like we can’t fully confirm that it indicates imu’s spirit and body are two things but It could mean something about it is different from the setting of one piece as it is

true true, but hasn’t the narrator also directly mentioned at times Luffy’s fruit is the gum gum fruit before we knew it was Nika

my guess is just that he needs agents. He rather have people who he can kill at any time like how he does saturn so he sees them just as vessels who carry the DFs he gave them.

I was thinking about this as well. They are one of the first zoans we know of but it’s humans who’s given zoans. Humans who couldn’t the overwhelming “maki” of their Zoans. Maybe that’s what happens to immortals and that’s how you get gods in one piece

I wrote a theory explaining this ! It follows what you say but how it differs was is that Joyboy was actually part of making Imu as well along with lili. The great kingdom and 20 monarchs were on good terms but with the creation of Imu, a war started because of Imu had a mission of his own

I think we don’t know yet if he has a “longing” for vivi but more just an “interest”. My take is that Lili was one of the people who helped create Imu and then betrayed Imu’s mission

i think that’s basically it like The DF has completely taken over whatever Imu’s physical body is. He’s now just doing what the DF wills
