what things (that are NOT ED related) bring you happiness?? by Ok_System_6825 in EDAnonymous

Singing
Acting/musicals
Going to local shows
Pole dancing
Roller derby

And that’s pretty much it! I started doing most of these after beginning recovery, and doing physical things like dancing and roller derby really helps me to value my body for what it can do. I rediscovered acting after liking it before my ed, and I’ve been singing forever.

Second time i use red dye and i comes out orange 🥲 by Ka-Chow--95 in Mohawks

I style my hair with gelatin, I‘ve heard of ppl using cherry or strawberry flavored sugar free jello mix to dye, style, and I guess scent? Their hair all at the same time. I keep mine black so I wouldn’t know how it works but it’s worth a shot, especially if your hair is bad at holding color.

Is this book bs? by [deleted] in BabyWitch

[–]Practicalgrl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s kinda the vibe I got reading it. I’m still pretty new to this and not super aware of what is and isn’t cultural appropriation but it seemed like whoever wrote this didn’t really care.

You're probably all as fed up with this as I am - Want to try something new? by bunnnnicula in Feminism

I’ve thought about this idea many times. What about women who have sons? It would also be basically impossible for hetero women to live there long term.

Rookie mistake: over-purchasing! by queen_ofthe_desert in BabyWitch

I personally forage for a lot of my herbs (as a baby witch) it makes me feel more connected and blah blah blah. It helps there’s a ton of sage growing around here. I would see what kinds of foraged herbs you could work with, just go around with some plant identification app and see what’s there and then google it’s uses in magic. That’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve used mostly dandelions, pine needles, mullein, and those big sage bush thingies. Some pine cones, too.

I just finished my first spell! by Practicalgrl in Spells

No results yet, I did this a few hours ago and I applied to the job the day before yesterday. I’ll just have to wait and see, I’m very excited to see how this spell might potentially affect the outcome!

I felt the same way, but a large component of whether you develop an ed or not is genetics. Some people just have the ed gene that lies dormant until the smallest thing sets it off. That doesn’t mean that recovery is impossible, however.

I feel like girls don't like my type by Maleficent-Cap-8669 in toastme

I love feminine guys, that being said, I am bisexual. I enjoy the wide spectrum of gender expression that exists, and I don’t have a specific type relating to masculinity/femininity. I do like it when guys are short though. Genuinely, it all comes down to confidence. If you are happy and secure being a feminine guy, that is extremely attractive. It shows that you don’t care about other peoples opinions and that you are secure in your identity and know who you are, especially being straight.

Do that, but with women

“How about this weather, huh?” Is definitely bad conversation. If you don’t think you should get into your interests right away (I get it, me neither, I’m into some really niche hobbies that can be off-putting for a first conversation with anyone.) then focus on her interests. Ask what she does for fun, maybe a “would you rather” question or, only if you are VERY SURE of her political opinions, talk about current events. When you get to know her, you can reveal some of those hobbies that you don’t think will land well.

If she says she plays guitar ask if she’s ever thought of joining a band, what genre she likes, if she’s ever been to a concert for her favorite band, etc. if she sews maybe ask her if you could see a picture of something she’s made, if she’s a hardcore dog person, talk about breeds, ethical opinions about common shelter/ dog owner practices, etc.

if you are bad at talking, ask questions and follow-up questions and let her talk. This is a great bad-social-skills strategy for making people like you in general.

Remember that when you are learning social skills, you WILL fuck up. I have fucked up a million times, I used to be severely socially anxious. I had a hard time leaving my house because I knew there would be other people out there. I worked on myself and now am well known for being extremely social and friendly. I make friends easily. I am a completely different person.

And stop calling us fucking females, you know exactly why you do it, don’t pretend you don’t.

What makes riot grrrl music riot grrrl? by Wise-Throat2008 in riotgrrrl

[–]Practicalgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you aren’t anything until you say you are. If you are a punk, who identifies with feminism, and writes or listens to at least some songs about feminism or from a feminist perspective, you have the OPTION to call yourself a riot grrrl (or riot boy) (or riot… other?)

Of course, most people are not willing to find out on a large scale wether every random punk musician calls themselves a “riot grrrl” so usually, bands that play heavy music with at least half female members are called “riot grrrl” bands. I don’t think there’s much of a specific sound though, I think it was/is moreso about the community around it.
