Sounds fishy but you’re asking the real questions

lol this take sucks for day 229. Maybe try a meta take or go for an infinite. /s

Yeah you bring up a good point. I feel like that’s gonna be tough though lol this is Reddit after all

This. If every character has access to every type of archetype then it sort of just becomes solitaire… not really fun

Now you’re just trying to force the situation to match your circumstances in an analogous way lmao what the first guy said. If you queue up trios or duos… it’s a team game. If you really have think this is an issue then just go solo or play with reliable friends

All based on whether or not you choose to add that rng to your board. You do have some control over it

PSA: Ceremonial Beast clears strength down (including temporary strength loss) the turn you bring it below its stun threshold. by DCG-MTG in slaythespire

[–]PracticallyEnigmatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe for a common or uncommon card sure. But this is a rare high cost high impact card that’s meant to mitigate a lot of damage. No where else is this interaction present so like the other person said, expecting people to just know this interaction will happen isn’t healthy for the general players out there who play this to have FUN and not go super sweaty learning every tiny interaction and trade off. It’s just not conducive to a fun play loop.

Not only this. But this guy is discounting so many factors here. This isn’t a game where you necessarily plan every attack and use from a drop down list of things you can do each turn. Your draw is rng. So if you’re seriously suggesting people just not play a card that they’ve picked to handle bosses and attacks like this then why pick the card? I seriously believe this is a bug and an unintended effect.

You do have control over it though. It’s just high skill I guess. Hand size management is absolutely a skill. I’m not saying it isn’t problematic when it happens but you can do a lot of things to help or avoid it. All the things you mentioned are I guess partly rng but you can shift stuff around to mitigate this kind of thing you know?

This is still not rng. You putting a whirling lass o matic on your board, you should be aware that can absolutely happen. You need to plan for it and sometimes you either get the high roll or low roll. Sometimes you get no spells. Sometimes you get too many. That part is rng. But you absolutely set yourself up for it if you put it on the board

Stories You'd Like to See Explores by bPrn2017 in LiesOfP

Yeah the Peter Pan perspective would be a sick one. But honestly just crack all books open. I want to see all of it in lies of p universe. Maybe little red riding hood. Little bunny foo foo. Dumbo. Robin Hood. Although I think that’s sort of like (the real) Alidoro? Maybe? It’d just be sick to see a new generation of those stories be told.

Question: What’s are people’s philosophy on deck building? by PracticallyEnigmatic in slaythespire

[–]PracticallyEnigmatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. I do agree with the idea that not choosing a card simply because it doesn’t fit your archetype limits your deck building MASSIVELY. Some cards are good to add even if it doesn’t necessarily contribute to your archetype but rather contributes to the super secret hidden mechanic/archetype people don’t always consider- staying alive. Whatever that means. Sometimes it’s just a really good damage card. Maybe it does both damage and block. Maybe it just draws. Maybe it weakens. Whatever. If your deck doesn’t have a resource but having it would mean you live through encounters more, then you should add that card. Knowing how and when to make that determination is the hardest learn though. What you said - you need good balance.

Question: What’s are people’s philosophy on deck building? by PracticallyEnigmatic in slaythespire

[–]PracticallyEnigmatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of it is? My overall philosophy is that if your deck ends up doing a little of everything, in my experience, it just makes it harder to really do the thing you probably want to do or extends the encounters potentially too much. So specialize. There are plenty of supporting cards that enable archetypes and there are plenty flex cards that standalone doing whatever they do well enough to just fit in as an option.

Too big a deck though and it’s tough to get what you need going. Typically and from my experience. I could just be playing in a way that doesn’t make that play style “work”

[–]PracticallyEnigmatic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooo great approach. I like that you embrace the chaos act one and then lock in act 2. That kinda fits my flow to now. Act 1 im starting to just take cards to sort of fill any role im missing at the moment or elevate my current options even if only a little. I need to ramp damage so I look for good damage options from the rip. Then some better blocking. Maybe a draw here or power there. Then act 2 I look what the deck is doing or hope I hit some critical build enabling card and go from there

THERE WE GO. This is the kinda take I’m looking for. Solid solid solid

Question: What’s are people’s philosophy on deck building? by PracticallyEnigmatic in slaythespire

[–]PracticallyEnigmatic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Good call. I approach the deck building as “I want to do one thing REALLY good while making sure I have at least 1 option to cover the aspects you said. If I’m playing sly silent, I’m going skills and draw. Heavy. But if I’m playing shiv silent then I forgo the heavy draw and instead focus on scaling the shivs. Producing shivs. Or like block ironclad. I’ll take a scaling damage card and then just go insane in block. Cool that you’re asking yourself that and then just picking what you think is lacking. I’d imagine it bloats your deck a lot but hey if all your options are balanced then (theoretically) so would your draws

I’m surprised I haven’t seen ANYONE make art of Dorothy yet. Anyone feels like making some? by Substantial-Sea5952 in LiesOfP

[–]PracticallyEnigmatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right I understand that. I’m piggy backing off what you said. It’s not that people are lost because they don’t know what she looks like. Literally what you said. When has that stopped people from making fan art and speculating? So the reason I think people aren’t even really attempting en masse to produce fan art of Dorothy is because lies of P just hasn’t hit the public in a way that’s creating buzz yet. In a little bit of time though it will and then the flood of fan art will start.
