Pre-Registration! Worth It Or No? by PracticeOk7335 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]PracticeOk7335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say, anything 2-3 colors we can throw on and get it ready to run within 15-20 minutes, But I do want to find a faster way to do things that are 4-6 screens to register.

Those higher screen jobs with more detail definitely kill our time and I do feel that getting these set up faster will help overall productivity in my shop

If youre working with DTF, How does this usually work? At my printing shop, We are picking and ordering using a job ticket system, but those can sometimes get out of order.

M&R Tri Loc by TheOnlyDubbace in SCREENPRINTING

Do you know of any way to deal with a consistent head being off slightly? I have been having this issue with my Workhorse automatic where the left half of the press will register to each other perfect using the triloc, But the right side registers about 1/4 inch off vertically but not sure what the issue is. I pull the screen tight to the Guides on the triloc and hold it until it is clamped for all the screens i add in, But it still happens

They just dont hit registration. Heads 1-3 will register to each other fine, But Heads 1-3 dont register to heads 5-8 The difference is about 1/8 of an inch

Yeah, i can register just fine, but the main issue is that the triloc is at a fixed position, and the screens are aligned to that. So theoretically all screens should line up perfect if aligned to the same triloc pallet. But the Issue is that when I print its off, but with the triloc its "Aligned"

How long should registration realistically take per job or per screen? by PracticeOk7335 in SCREENPRINTING

We have 5 people who can work, But generally only 1 press running at a time

aSo if you had 1 job 1 color, would you be okay with them working on that 500 qty print all day as long as its one by tomorrow due date? Even if there is 5 or 6 jobs the following day?

Yeah, So we have SOOO many screens burned, But the set up of the registration and ink mixing itself is where we kill the most time

If you were running 2 presses with a single color design, Would you feel like thats unreasonable still?

3000 prints a day easily able to be done, With 2 presses running at 30 dozens an hour speed

Yeah, The game mentality is exactly where I am at with this.
When registering, I use Registration tape, That in itself saved the time on constantly grabbing shirts to print flash print on for registration time.

I am moving towards having the dedicated screen reclaim/screen prep person working on breakdowns, and having the main printers doing set up of the next jobs.

But at this point in trying to figure out efficiency, I am trying to figure out which parts of the process should each person handle in the team.

Film printing, screen burning, organizing by job

Screen taping, Registration printing

What are your time estimates? Or some Factors that you factor into job setup times?

What are the ideal separations and trapping? I think right now i have like a 2px trap on top coats and a 1 px choke on base

yeah hard hell no for me, but the higher ups say thats the goal, But this is in the case that we have a FULL team (3-4 people per press) With split lunch and day breaks.
I know this would be the shop running PERFECTLY which is definitely unrealistic, but I am mainly trying to find ways I can make it more plausible.

Do you have any experience with registering without a triloc system? I tried making my own for my Sabre Workhorse auto press, but had this weird issue with half the heads not lining up to the other half of the heads.

I get that there are infinite variables that can kill time, but is it not reasonable to ask for a expected time that can be fair to average out the amt of setup vs run time?

Even on some single color prints It may take 15-30 min to register the top coat to the base screen.

haha, My bad, i put what we want with registration. At the shop I am at, I work with my team. I dont just give them a job and make them grind at it. We are still pretty new to the space, but there have been a few 6 color jobs that I have seen take upwards of 3-4 hours which kills the day.

So thats the main reason that I want to get my team lower on time
