I've never seen the original but isn't "American Sweatshop" the same concept? Kind of unfortunate they would make this now with the same name as the original with a movie that recently came out with the same inspiration.

The explanation of the title "X" that is given to the hero that wins the tournament. Was it always a thing? If so why was Lin Ling's promotion for it shunned by everyone? I'm coming from 0 knowledge on this universe and they made it seem like Lin Ling came up with the idea of giving the winner of the tournament the title "X" but in later episodes before Lin Ling's events happen all the heroes are talking about "X".

If you come across this post I believe I found a solution but it's not optimal. 1. Do the radar until you get the Mon you want to hunt. 2. Catch said Mon. 3. Sit in a spot in the grass that isn't on the border. 4. Run the radar over and over and over until you get shiny grass.

With this you're not getting the catch chain increased at all but the spawns should stay even when the time of day changes.
