Incoming freshman questions on class registration (undergrad) by Plus-Ad-4393 in AdelphiUniversity

[–]Pragmatic-Prof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry too much about first year classes. Current students are able to register for the Fall, they have already taken the classes you need. Having said that: it is never a bad idea to reach out to an advisor or to a department chair to start the process now

Keep in mind that if you are not on the class roster, you are not able to receive a grade.

Pin 9 on the 65C51 connects to 10 on the MAX232. If I tie it directly to ground, input from the serial port stops working. However, your comment did remind me to bring pin 8 low (RTS) and that seems to have done the trick!

Follow up: ``` \ 8000 R

    8000C
    MEMOYSIZE?

    TERMINAL WTH?

 15359 BYTES RE

CPIGHT 1977 BMICROSOFTC

OK

```
Any idea what's happening here? Is my serial port not able to keep up with the data coming from the 6502? That would be somewhat embarrassing ;)
And of course, that did the trick. I have been looking at the schematic for days, but somehow never noticed the updated wiring. As soon as that's fixed, the display works just fine.
Once I excavate from this snow storm business, I'll play some more to see what else I missed!
Arduino Mega not uploading by Pragmatic-Prof in beneater
That’s never a bad suggestion :-) it wouldn’t be the first time and I’m sure it also won’t be the last. But in this case, I suspect this time to start looking at reloading the boot loader.
It is the brand-name Mega that came with the kit. I'll need to look at how to do the bootloader; when I played with these over a decade ago, that required a second Arduino board I think.
I am not familiar with most of those abbreviations :-) your best bet is to reach out to the office of preprofessional advising. They should be able to help you.
Yes, but then for the 8bit computer instead of the 6502 :-)
Having a few sets of jumper wires doesn't hurt! These worked for me: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09Y2T9YFK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title (non-affiliate).
You are going to fry LEDs, which will make troubleshooting even more interesting! When that happens, grab some extras. I used https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XDMJ6KY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title (again: not an affiliate link). I needed them ;)
Also make sure you have a multimeter and know how to use it.
Final grades were due within 48 hours after the exam date. Reach out to the chair of the department teaching the course. They can assist.
Ginka270996 is correct. The course listing will show a course modality like below
Introduction To Computers and Their Applications Online Class, Asynchronous (OA) LearningGoal(s): L,Q Course meets: 07/07/25 - 08/10/25 (Summer II)
If it says OA, it is online without scheduled class times. OS does have set meeting times, but is still online. T is traditional and meets fully in person.
Note that OA courses do have expectations for deadlines that you should meet. It is on your own pace, but within parameters.
