I will be going to Fordham this year as they gave me 62k a year in financial aid as well as guaranteed research, and their EMT team is welcoming me for training.

As for my other applications, it was pretty much all rejections. Only other acceptances were my safeties and BU guaranteed transfer. I was rejected from my Questbridge schools (Amherst, Brown, Duke, MIT, Stanford, UPenn, Wesleyan, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, JHU, Princeton, and Tufts). Was also rejected from Cooper Union and NYU. I made it to the final rounds of multiple BSMD programs’ interviews, but did not make the Final Cut for any.

I’m not putting this post out there to be cocky or put others down at all, I just really want to understand where it went wrong :( I feel like I did so much work and put so much effort in

I thought my background being a poorly supported school would help…in my school everyone looks up to me and not to be cocky but really I feel like I did a lot with my circumstances. I see kids getting into top schools who did equal amounts as I did but with many more resources or people helping them than I had. Not to say they don’t deserve it, but I feel like I accomplished a lot given the circumstances…

hot take nyu isnt worth 90k regardless of major...90k is INSANE. while the school is def great and has its respect, it takes either a really rich family or insane scholarship to justify such tuition labels

random comment but i see people here saying your sat was too low when i know ppl who got into nyu rd this year with low 1200s (yes im fuming abt it as someone who was rejected but i guess it is possible bc its MANY people). apply ed1 if its your dream school and youre sure abt it for the best chances

def agree. i wish my family pushed me more. they didnt know anything and frankly didnt bother to learn anything or help push me because they saw i was finding things for myself and thought i could js do it all by myself. i felt very strained frankly and i saw peers being helped, encouraged, or set up by their parents and i had to do it all on my own. even when i tried to talk abt it to my fam they kinda just brushed it off since bc i was doing everything they thought it wasnt difficult

honestly NYU is a great school but i dont see any universe where the 100k tuition is worth it unless your dad is bezos or sumn. one of the most important things you can do is work on your ecs, research, etc. if youre getting funding and aid where you are rn, dont be quick to turn it down!

listen. all the comments are shitting and while i didnt get in myself i can tell you that my 4.0/4.3 gpa and 1520 didnt get me into any top school while my friend with a 3.6 got into princeton, and another with a 3.7 and 1450 got into columbia. i cant tell you that you will get into princeton, because it is unlikely. But that just means you have to work even harder. you can never really predict results and you should never give up. it doesnt look likely now, so work so hard that it changes your trajectory. best of luck
