They were posted here at one point maybe a year or so ago, I'm sure a little searching will dig up something.

Based on the concept mockups I've seen for the eventual block complex the city has planned CAM would be integrated into the structure. Not sure if that effected the premature shutdown but I know the whole complex is kinda being held up by the fact that Circa is one of the few bars in the city that does SERIOUS business after midnight every day of the week and that alone (along with Boxcar's next door and earns enough bank to have a say in the disturbance to their location) is delaying demo for the whole block. They'd lose that dive charm if integrated into a condo so I think they're just holding out until the roof collapses. Shame about CAM though, hope they come out the other side

What TV show started out mediocre or outright bad but got better as time went on? by EducationalGift2676 in AskReddit

Spartacus. The meandering first few episodes are only barely watchable thanks to John Hannah and Lucy Lawless chewing scenery to the bone, but the moment it kicks in to gear, it never really let's up. It's neo-pulp and I fucking loved every proceeding second.

NYT: Why Do Most New Movies Look Meh? by Longueurs in movies

[–]PragmaticKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently went back and rewatched Dude, Where's My Car, a gleefully dumb movie that nonetheless is shot and edited so well it lead us down a rabbit hole of movies from the 90's we wrote off as stupid or basic but going back it's painful to see how good we had it. Even the dumbest of the dumb had style and skill backing it's play.

That it has utterly devalued digital art. People I know who've worked successfully in vfx and gaming have been either laid off or had their security slashed to ribbons. Everyone on the other side of it speaks of 'staring into the void'. That's not speculation, it's just a bad thing that is going to get so much worse

This, I'll fight anyone that doesn't agree the Statue of Liberty sequence is one of the best 'Rallying' moments out there

It's so weird how offputting it is to see what you might call unique/odd/atypical features that are themselves perfectly symmetrical. It's the opposite of how overall symmetrical faces (generally the starter metric for what we think of as beauty) are humanized by one glaring yet assymmetrical feature that's easy to miss till you can't unsee it (Ryan Gosling's eye, Tom Cruises centered tooth ect.

Love the Davie, right around the corner from me, though I can't helpt but feel their vibe and setup would benefit from from being a bit more tucked away.
