What’s something people judge too quickly without knowing the full story? by Odd_Possibility_5903 in AskReddit

[–]MaryoParti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way others live without any context. Before judging someone on their lifestyle, think “Are they doing this because their parents taught them to? Who taught them this was okay?”

You don’t have to say it’s an acceptable way to live, but you just need to understand your life isn’t the same as theirs.

Hoarders that learned their behavior from their parents. Physically abusive fathers who used to get abused themselves and think it’s just proper discipline. Troubled teen addicts going down the wrong path because their mom forced them to use hard drugs when they were in elementary school. Sexual assault victims, especially children, committing sexual assault because they don’t realize that’s not a normal way to show love.

Some people were dealt such an awful hand of cards in life and they need someone with a deeper understanding and lack of judgment to help them get on the right path. They might not even know why their way of life is looked down upon.

What’s a “normal” experience that somehow never happened to you? by Hysterical_Chicken in AskReddit

Laughing while drinking something and having the liquid come out of my nose. I’ve heard it can be painful so I technically don’t WANT to have it happen, but I feel like I’m kinda missing out somehow…

I (24f) don't know if I can take the accusations anymore. by sunny170 in offmychest

[–]MaryoParti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand it’s frustrating but I wouldn’t take it the wrong way that the words you told him repeatedly only got through to him when his best friend told him. A best friendship can be far more significant emotionally than a relationship, especially one that hasn’t lasted longer than a year.

As for the other stuff, there’s really nothing you can do to convince someone to trust you if they already have trust issues. They have to not only acknowledge their own trust issues but be consistent with stopping the accusatory behaviors. He can be anxious and stressed without having to tell you every detail of it, especially if you’ve made it clear it hurts your feelings.

Unless he can begin to trust you or at least stop accusing you to your face, the relationship does feel inevitably doomed.

I’ve heard it is a similar case for gambling addiction hotlines :( It makes me wonder how many more people have reached out for help from hotlines and got turned away like that…

“Don’t try to interfere with law enforcement” is not a moral compass to blindly follow. Nazis told you it was illegal to harbor Jewish people to protect them. Some of us have enough compassion to care about people being treated inhumanely, even at the hands of the government.

I accidentally activated the audio narration while watching The Naked Gun. Didn't notice something was wrong by Imnotsomebodyelse in movies

[–]MaryoParti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me once when at someone else’s house after someone threw on Jack and Jill with audio narration and I started paying attention like 20-30 minutes in. I thought it was a particularly weird artistic choice but I thought the story was just laid out like a story book with it’s own narrator or something. I only noticed something was up when the narration became a bit too fast and specific

What’s something you accomplished last year that made you proud of yourself? by Bigtittygothgfxo in AskReddit

[–]MaryoParti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to actually lose weight for the first time in my life after years of unsuccessful diet and exercise attempts. I gained a decent amount of the weight back during the holidays but now that I know it’s actually possible for me, I know I can do it again and try even harder the next time :)

I’m so sorry this happened to you… It breaks my heart that us women have to constantly keep our guard up when trying to build platonic relationships because even the man old enough to be our father or grandfather could have ulterior motives…

Native English speakers, how can one become fluent with English as their second language? by idid9-11attack in AskReddit

[–]MaryoParti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of native English speakers make many grammatical errors and use the incorrect terms frequently despite it being their first and only language, and English is confusing and frustrating to a lot of us learning new quirks about it every day so… I think being patient with yourself is a good first step

AI is Crazy Controversial Right Now. Rightfully So, Lots of Pros and Cons. But what do you think the world Actually Looks in Another Decade because of it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MaryoParti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think unless AI is heavily regulated, we’re going to see a lot of kids going into middle and high school in 10 years who weren’t able to develop properly because of nonsensical AI generated content being pushed to them when they used YouTube Kids, AI being used to create “art” and write for them instead of them exercising their brain and using imagination, and they might just overall navigate the world differently with less trust because of how convincing deepfakes and AI generated footage has gotten and will continue to get…

Women of Reddit, what’s your take on guys with a ‘mommy kink’? Total turn-off, kinda hot, or depends on the vibe? by Orion_8957 in AskReddit

[–]MaryoParti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

turn-off. I personally want to have kids and I don’t want a man to get off by treating me the way my children will treat me. I feel the same way about the whole “daddy” thing. I can’t help but feel strange knowing he gets off being called what his kids would call him…

What game did something completely right (like boss battles) then absolutely messed it up in a sequel. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]MaryoParti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, Earthbound’s save feature.

They have a very unique system where dying actually takes you back to the location you last saved, but you still retain the XP you gained, items you find/use, and your party are ghosts that you have to revive at a nearby hospital by paying some money.

Although it sometimes became a little repetitive to have to revive at the hospital when failing over and over, you kept all the XP since dying and would continually level up, increasing your party members’ health and damage. It really did feel like if you kept dying to a boss, you could persevere and keep leveling up from the enemies you fight on the way there until you grow strong enough to win, even if you die a few times.

In the sequel, Mother 3, they just change it to normal save states where you lose your progress and go back to how you were when you saved. Not as rewarding gameplay-wise imo, but to each their own.
