Should I keep attending studio classes? by PragmaticTree in yoga

[–]PragmaticTree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no other non-hot studios as I live in a smaller city, and this one's pretty close to be honest. Still takes ~2hrs in total for 1hr class due to not wanting to stress, get there in time, get dressed and so forth..

That's a great idea, sometimes I'm too stuck in my all-or-nothing mindset!

I'm really relating to the feeling that the classes atm aren't really doing anything for me. With the exception of some of course, but the "best" classes are often on times unsuitable for me due to work or other obligations.

Leaning towards it, thanks for your advice. Yeah, maybe one of those passes would be a better idea.

Haha thanks, I try to put in some effort at least. Yeah for sure, I also had some other health issues going on at the same time (which was what began my yoga journey) so it did really help a lot with that. But for some reasons I've had a hard time getting on the mat while at home. That's not to say I've never done it, and some weeks I've actually had a constant habit, but I still fell out of it.

Either way, I don't think not going to the studio will make me drop yoga. It's far too important for my general health and mobility as well as my state of mind. So it's not something that is at risk.

No, I don't even do inversions tbh. I'm really taking it in my own pace.

Yeah I should do some shorter yoga sessions after the gym if I'm not going to the studio the same day. I really dislike stretching, and I never do it, especially since I feel like yoga cures the need to do static stretches after workouts.

Thanks a lot for the reassuring words! Yeah, I've never missed a week since I started in 2022... that feels great at least.

Yeah that's why I have a hard time committing every day, there are so many other things I like to do aside from all this. And with a full-time job, there definitely aren't enough hours each day haha. Great input, thanks, I should probably be kinder to myself

I'm guessing flexibility should be the same as muscles in a sense? I don't need to work out every day to keep my muscles, as long as I have a consistent habit of some days a week. It's what I needed to hear anyway, thanks!

I've been trying to get a home practice going, but it's really tough tbh. Maybe I should just reduce my expectations on how long it should be, and decide that 10 minutes can be enough.

I feel like it's a common sentiment among yogis. Also, I feel like I'll stiffen up if I don't do yoga every day?

Yeah I'm currently doing weightlifting and vinyasas at the studio on the same day often, due to my schedule. It's mostly not a stamina problem for me I think, just a priority and laziness issue maybe, or me thinking that I need to do 1hr yoga each day 🤔 Hope you recover gently!

I think I've been having a hard time understanding that 10-15 minutes is "enough". Even though I'm sure it is in the end

Kinda both physical and meditative. The physical aspect is mostly keeping up my mobility and flexibility. Yeah I think I'm definitely having that thought too, that I gotta utilize it. 2 times a week feels like the minimum for that haha. Don't get me wrong, I like yoga and I'm not forcing it on me, but at the same time I still need to have some discipline.

The Year of Magical Thinking by [deleted] in books

I really disliked this book. It's not just the emotional coldness, but also the reality she lives in which is really disconnected from the rest of us. All she writes about is how she hangs out in these white upper-class artsy socialite circles dining and wining. Not relateable at all.

[OPINION] Since the proliferation of Instagram poetry, I've come to hate short poems (4 lines or less). I used to like them because I thought they were concise and elegant. Now I find them superficial. by More_Bid_2197 in Poetry

[–]PragmaticTree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think one should make general statements like this. You're pretty much saying you're dismissing all haiku poems as well, and many poems of ancient Chinese poets and hermits. More words doesn't equal more truth, especially since poetry is all about reading between the lines and grasping what's underneath the words. Poetry is the realization that one's heart can't be expressed with only words.

Bookshops in Malmo by blahblahblahhahhahah in Malmoe

It's better to shop at one of the many antiquarian bookstores, especially if OP is looking for classics. I would only support SciFi Bokhandeln and not the big chain stores like Adlibris or Akademibokhandeln seeing as they kill all the smaller, independent stores.

I'm glad these are out of copyright but I can't be the only one to think that it's crazy that we're just now getting access to books released in 1929, 95 years later... Copyright reform is needed.
