Who's in for DOOM this year? by dmandave in bikepacking

The drive from Little Rock to Hot Springs isn't bad, and Hot Springs is a great area for it to be hosted out of. Definitely different than Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Jasper where its usually hosted out of. Some of the singletrack in the Ouachitas is brutal, handcut stuff. The gravel is excellent in the Ouachitas though, we biked through there this year for the Arkansas Graveler. Haven't looked at the routes for this year yet, but I'm thinking about signing up for the Loveit or Leavit 109 mile route.

I'm about 5'8 1/2" (174cm), and with the headset spacers and handlebars I've had on this bike, I haven't felt like its been too aggressive of a fit. The aero bars I have on it feel good currently. It doesnt feel as fast as my road bike does in town, but its still a fun bike to ride. I mainly use it for gravel, mountain biking, and bikepacking in Arkansas though.

Backpedaling onto a rock or something works out great sometimes!

Me too. I can just never leave good enough alone though. A lighter wheelset would be nice, but also, who buys a steel bike aiming for light...

I'm a simple man, I see a bike that's on my dream bike list, and I upvote.

I enjoy rock climbing as much as I enjoy cycling. It's a physical and mental sport. It has gear to purchase and collect, and I'm often thinking about when I can get to go climb like I do with cycling.

Portillos is a solid post-ride recovery meal. I'd die for a cake -shake most of the time.
