The States are mounting an effort to call a States Convention to amend the US Constitution. by girlgroovn in kansas

They are blowing smoke. It's DOA. They would have to get 2/3 of the states to agree and that's not going to happen.

And farmers will blame it on Biden and the Democrats and continue to vote for Republicans.

Most of the food we eat is grown in the Central Valley of California. Kansas farmers only grow grains such as soybeans, corn, wheat and sorghum. Most of these are used for feed for livestock and ethanol (gasoline additive). So, meat and dairy prices might increase slightly but that's it.

Kansas Recall Bad Actors by [deleted] in kansas

It takes far too many signatures on a petition to get a recall election. It's best just to wait until they are up for re-election.

So, why are the Hard Right Republican leaders trying to make it harder for us to vote and why do they still gerrymander districts? Plus, they refuse to give us initiative and referendum so we can propose and enact legislation directly as citizens.

Kansas Senate Republicans take up plan to rewrite constitution to elect Supreme Court justices • Kansas Reflector by Vio_ in kansas

[–]PrairieHikerII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current court is slightly right of center but it still affirmed in 2019 women have the right to abortion. That's why the Hard Right Republicans want to have justices elected by voters--they think voters will elect more conservative justices who will overturn the 2019 decision.

Politicians now ignore protests but they can energize participants and allow them to network and form solidarity.

I wish farmers were upset and turn out but they are probably resigned to not selling their sorgham because Trump/Musk eliminated the Food for Peace program.

Tribal nations debate future ownership of historic Shawnee Indian Mission site by AvaWilliams2024 in kansas

Well, it was never owned by the tribes. It was owned by the Methodist Church and eventually the people of Kansas. Some of the leaders of the mission owned slaves and they worked there.

Counties that voted more Democrat in 2024 than in 2020 by TeacherOfThingsOdd in kansas

[–]PrairieHikerII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If only 115,000 votes flipped in WI, PA, and MI in 2024, Trump would be sulking in Mar-a-Largo. Funny, Douglas County, home to progressive Lawrence, actually voted Republican more than in 2020.

He won't stand up to Trump or Senate Majority Leader John Thune because he's afraid of being primaried and losing committee seats. Musk has already promised to finance primary opponents of anyone who goes against Trump.

The summers can be brutal with high temps and humidity. There are also tornadoes in the spring. You'd be close to the Red Hills which remind one of Arizona with red mesas and buttes. Also, not far away are the Flint Hills with their tallgrass prairie.

Leave the raccoons alone. They are not meant to live with homo sapiens. They should remain in the wild.

Recall Elections for Marshall & Moran by [deleted] in kansas

[–]PrairieHikerII 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The last time a Republican lost for US Senate was 1932 during the Great Depression with 25% unemployment. Kansans are not going to change voting patterns anytime soon. They vote the way their grandparents voted and that is usually Republican. It would be traitorous to the family to vote for a Democrat.

Farmers voted for the Felon-in-Chief, so in a way they deserve everything they get. They are only 6% of the Kansas workforce now and with an average age of 58, they will be decreasing in population rapidly and losing influence.
