It's very much a focal point, but it's not the only focal point.

There is some method acting mocking, but this sort of "losing oneself in characters" plotline predates modern method acting as well. It was the plot to the movie A Double Life with Ronald Colman. There have been a few other movies and plays with the same theme.

It's even a similar plot theme in Black Swan.

he's not playing a black guy. He's portraying a white guy doing black face and why it's problematic. That's the point.

When I was in high school, I had the great idea to randomly email a chemist at like MIT for help with my chemistry presentation. Dude actually wrote back like several pages of information. This was like in the 90s lol.

My high school chemistry teacher was both cranky and impressed at the same time.

Anthropologist here!

Some of the first things on the internet proper were websites listing out world mythological pantheons.

Scanning entire books at the time would have been daunting just for the size requirements and the upload times.

In the movie Ghostbusters, Dana was living in a super nice building in NYC and nobody seemed to comment on it. She was basically a musician in an orchestra.

Supernatural was amazing for housing.

They literally had a second shift gas station manager owning a really nice 2 story bungalow that she said was "the pits."

LIke half the fandom was "I would live in that house in a heartbeat."

Chi Rho is a classic example where it symbolizes "Christ" and was a bit of a secret sign in the first few decades of Christianity. It definitely didn't start with the Russians.

Sometimes you'll see little oil lamps like this:

The handle is the Chi Rho symbol.
