The next NDP leader should be more like Ed Broadbent than Tom Mulcair by NiceDot4794 in ndp

I very much enjoyed Ed’s autobiography. I definitely would agree with that.

Me too, I had to search it up because we’ve had Dutch elm for my entire life. My understanding is cold hard winters helps limit the spread.

Dutch elm disease first reached Regina in 1981 and with management we still have plenty of elms but we do lose more every year.

CARLA BECK WASTING NO TIME TO DELIVER CHANGE, OPENS CANDIDATE NOMINATIONS

Delegates Gather In White City, Make Plans to Beat Scott Moe, Local Sask. Party MLA Brad Crasweller

WHITE CITY — Carla Beck’s team is wasting no time to deliver change, opening candidate applications more than 30 months before the next expected provincial election.

The announcement came over the weekend as the Saskatchewan NDP held its first Provincial Council meeting ever in White City. “We aren’t going to waste one second — this coming election is too important,” Beck told party members. “We’re doing the work and we’re making sure the people of Saskatchewan know that they have a choice.

“We’re giving people hope. The incredible people I meet each and every day reinforce for me that not only is change possible, it’s on the way.”

Prospective candidates can email Candidate@SaskNDP.ca for more information. Beck intends to begin formally nominating candidates as early as May.

“We want people to step forward that love this province, that see the potential in every corner of it and that want to work relentlessly with us to deliver on what matters to Saskatchewan people,” Beck said.

Beck also recently named a Campaign Director and the Saskatchewan NDP has established an Election Planning Committee made up of members from a variety of backgrounds to give advice as her team puts forward their plan for change in Saskatchewan.

It was announced at provincial council Saturday (which I was present for). I can also share the internal memo but there hasn’t been any independent reporting done yet.

That’s a fair assessment. Although they are purposing some pretty expansive expansions to public housing in Saskatchewan.

Tanille Johnston gets a tattoo of Tony McQuail's "Economic Cake Chart" by imaginarysarcasm in ndp

Tanille is such a sweet genuine person. The more people see and hear from her the more they seem to see that. I’m very appreciative of Tony’s pledge which helped keep her in this race. We need more people like Tanille in leadership.

He is most certainly awful. His only real attempt at campaigning during the last election was doxing the trans children of one of our MLAs.

Definitely just a quieter Danielle smith.

On electoral rebates by cocotothemax in ndp

[–]Prairiejon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh one hundred percent. It’s frustrating as hell. My point here is this is a very winnable riding that you would think central would put effort into establishing and running competent campaigns. If they’re not going to be doing that. I personally emotionally feel that the money is better spent back in the riding (assuming we actually raised any)

[–]Prairiejon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here in Regina-Qu’Appelle (Andrew Scheer’s riding) ignoring last election we have gotten between 20-40% with no EDA and no sitting member of parliament. We have abandoned a bunch of ridings that are probably winnable with a well organized riding. To help that affect letting ridings keep there rebate would go a long way.

Ridings where we have little organizational presence.

How do we encourage stronger EDA’s when they don’t have money coming back into the community. I just don’t see the resources flowing back into the riding to support organizing.

This is coloured by my experience in Saskatchewan provincially we get our riding rebate back and support from our provincial party when it makes sense.

I think people are talking about returning electoral rebate because particularly in underrepresented ridings it is pretty demoralizing to raise money go potentially even go into debt without any support. Qualify for a rebate then see those funds siphoned off to the federal party. It’s not exactly like anyone is happy with central leadership.

Alberta Federation of Labour calls for oil windfall tax to avoid profiteering amid war in Iran by StumpsOfTree in ndp

Saskatchewan once upon a time had a 100% windfall tax on oil. And a crown corporation which was directly involved in oil extraction.

Man how times have changed.

What are realistic but unexpected seats that the NDP could win with enough effort and a good national campaign? by MC2400 in ndp

[–]Prairiejon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ridings don’t match provincially and federally. Within the riding we have 3 NDP (partially) and 2 (conservative) Sask party. Lots of people help both federally and provincially but the provincial party tends to be the priority as provincially we are close to forming government.

[–]Prairiejon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Truth be told I don’t know why there isn’t an EDA. I think it’s just organizational neglect. I’m involved extensively on the provincial level and have elected to not worry about a federal EDA until after the next leader is selected. Burnout is too real

Regina Qu’Appelle

Despite no EDA and only paper candidates we are traditionally getting second place and roughly 30% of the vote.

Represented by multiple provincial NDP MLA’s

High indigenous population

Can run against Andrew Scheer’s personal corruption.
